ok so I am really begining to wonder if it is just laryingitis. I have not been able to talk for 2 weeks now. A few days ago my throat hurt so bad one side that it hurt to swallow, now it hurts on the other side. I am really begining to wonder if it is just laryengitis....any one have any ideas?

If it still hurts, I'd go to the doctor and have them check it out. Two weeks is kind of too long for laryingitis (which I don't think really "hurts" that much anyway, is just uncomfortable).

OH no! Have you been to the doctor at all? It could be strep throat, and if you don't treat that it can lead to much worse. Don't mean to scare you into seeing a doctor, well YES I AM!!!
Are you NOT talking at all, not even TRYING to talk? If you haven't been forcing a whisper and you still can't talk, this really needs to be addressed by your MD/GP imo. Feel better.
![]()
Welcome to PsychCentral! You've come to a good place in your life.

I agree -- sounds like how I felt when I had strep (chronically, as a child). I don't think that laryngitis hurts, but strep most certainly does.

Please make an appt with your GP for an exam and get some medicine if needed (and) remember that if you do indeed have laryngitis and cont' to talk YOU can damage your voice box in the long run. well went to dr today, unfortunately saw sam dr i saw on monday in ER. AN IDIOT! Still claims it is just laryengitis, did do strep test at my request. Not strep though. I know that talking is not good, but have been having to talk. Dr wants me to see Ear, Nose and Throat specialist, so apparently he thinks it could be something more, but wont give me the time of day.
SO I am really frustrated....this afternoon my voice is better, but the throat still kills, Dar |

Well I'm glad to hear it isn't strep! YOU MUST NOT TALK lol carry a pad and pen around with you. Wear a sticky that says you have laryngitis.
![]() It could be allergies. Did something you eat or in your home change recently (that ties in with time frame of your problem?) Feel better.

Other signs and symptoms may include: 1 - Hoarseness 2 - Weak voice 3 - Tickling sensation and rawness of your throat 4 - Sore throat 5 - Dry throat 6 - Dry cough Treatment: Treatment depends on the cause of the laryngitis... The best treatment for the most common cause, a virus, is to rest your voice as much as possible and avoid clearing your throat. If an inhaled irritant is to blame, avoid the irritant. It may also help to inhale steam from a bowl of hot water or warm shower. LINK: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/lar...366/DSECTION=1 * * * * * * * * * * * |

If any vitamins or medicine makes you sick after taking them - try eating some thing before you take them (or) swallow them with a glass of milk. LoVe, Rhapsody - |

You could possibly be allergic to the dye in the vitamins. It's unlikely, but it's a thought.
I hope you continue to feel better. Hugs, Jan
