I need to lose weight and I thought about a cereal diet. I was just wondering if anyone has done one?

What I mean by cereal diet is like a cereal bar for breakfast and then a bowl of low cal/ low fat cereal for lunch and then a small dinner.

I know Special K is always talking about replacing a lunch or snack with cereal. If anyone has done this is it hard to stick with and did you lose weight and keep it off?

Thanks, Lisa

While I have not personally done this....... one of my sons friend from school followed this type of program over the summer (to get fit for ROTC) and he lost 30 pounds.... he still eats Special-K for lunch every day, at school.

30 lbs sounds great. I'm going to give it a try and see how it does. Think it will be easy to try. I can keep the cereal and milk here at work instead of going out for fast food everyday. We shall see what happens.

Special K is a nice cereal, but give up the diets and eat what you like as long as there is NO TRANS FATS! You can also follow the Food Pyramid. Just make sure that you are getting the RIGHT calories and plenty of exercise (at least an hour a day!) One summer I had fruit for breakfast, cottage cheese and tomatoes for lunch and some sort of meat or fish salad for dinner, I hardly ate much because I was too busy with other things and outside, I learned that I did not need so many calories. In the summer it is better to get more fluids (no soda!) I did binge sometimes like half a box of bacon cheese crackers or at parties and family reunions, but I was fit. Then gained weight after starting medication! Cereal diet? I also rode my bike everyday I love to Bicycle, you can also do things you like while you exercise like I enjoy science so I take field guides, books and kits too explore! Good luck! Cereal diet?

Oh and fiber with water can work great! Plenty of protein too.

Sarah's advice is very good.

You will not lose weight in a good way unless you exercise in some form. It doesn't need to be really strenuous. But don't restrict your diet - just eat healthy Cereal diet?

My suggestion is to go for low GI foods (glycemic index) because then you have more energy and don't get so hungry. Things like substituting brown rice for white rice is good ...

I learnt that putting a hill into my daily walk MELTED off the fat.

Good luck!!!!!

I eat my cereal with nonfat plain yogurt instead of milk. A bit more filling/nutritious/less calories that way and helps my tricky digestive track as well as not upsetting my lactose sensitive self Cereal diet?
