Does anyone know what I should expect from going off 150 mmg of Synthroid daily? The Drs have found some nodules in my neck but I have to go without my medicine for a month before they can perform a radioactive test to see if there are hot, (cancerous), nodules.

Any info will be most appreciated.

I'm sorry they have found nodules. I trust the tests will come back fine.

I was off my synthroid this past summer when I had some major surgery. I was given it tje week I was e in the hospital but then when I got home I somehow didn't get back on it. It was overy a month that I was off of it.

I felt very tired, couldn't get warm, and my hair was falling out easily. That all went away as soon as I got back on the synthrooid. I think constipation and slowness in thinking and depression are also possibilities.

Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hey Jan,

I had gone for a radio active test, but it's when my thyroid was over active.

Then my thyroid went under active and that's when I finally went in to see the endocryn doc that followed up with me.

He put me on synthroid as well.

I have nodules as well and he did an ultra sound on me. He said if they are a certain size that he'd have to biopsy them. They weren't, but I need to get them checked.

Not sure if any of this helped or sounds familiar.

I do know this ...if you were on 150mg and now you have to go off...that's really hard. It'd be hard for me.

Thank you both so much. I am having trouble swallowing food or meds so they think the nodules might be so large that they need to be removed.

The test will hopefully tell the Dr is anything is malignant. I only have a 15% chance of it being cancerous, so that's really good odds in my favor.

I'm tired, I don't have an appetite, I'm having "fuzzy thinking" at times, I'm depressed and nervous. Oh well, this too shall pass!

I really feel for you, and can relate. In another month I may be going for biopsy of my "nodes", but she hasn't mentioned taking me off my synthroid and cytomel, I think I'd end up just sleeping 24/7 if she does.
She also told me she prefers the biopsy over the radioactive testing to see if they are "hot" or "cold" nodes, which they usually do, but she wants to get to the point, due to a family member already having had thyroid cancer which was removed just in time, he now has to be on total supplementation, no longer having his thyroid.
I'm rooting for you and have a positive feeling(s) it's going to be okay, hang in there, dear lady.

Thank you dear heart. I'm tired and I'm trying to be very aware of my moods during this. So far, so good.

I hope you don't have to have the biopsies. I sure am dreading them if I have to have them. Please let me know how it goes.
