I seem to have overworked my wrist recently and was wondering if anyone who suffers from carpel tunnel has pain not only in the wrist right under the palm of their hand, but also towards the outside of the arm, directly down from the pinky finger.

I'm icing and heating it, but man oh man it still hurts! Luckily, typing doesn't seem to bother it, but writing does. *sigh*

Hey ((((((((sabby)))))))))))))

It's been a while since I've had carpal tunnel (I had it and tendonitis at the same time) but I don't think the pinky finger is attached to the same nerves as the rest of the hand so that would mean it isn't carpal tunnel?

I went into physiotherapy to "fix" it... I'll probably wander back the doctors again soon (because my hand feels like it's falling asleep again, one of the first symptoms)

I'd say go to your doctor to be sure, but it could be tendonitis or carpal tunnel (as I've noticed in my experience)

I'm trying to remember -- I had a nerve test thingy done to see what was going on with my wrist, and it turned out to be my elbow instead. The pinky is the ulnar nerve, maybe?, and the one that comes from your middle finger is the one that verifies carpal tunnel. I think. I could be wrong. My only advice is not to get the surgery! Worst mistake I ever made.

Definitely do get it checked out with your doc. If you can, see a hand surgeon and have him give you a brace. It is a night and day difference between the braces you get from orthopods and the braces you get at Walgreens! Not even close. I never realized exactly what support felt like till I got a real brace!

Hope you get some relief soon.

Yes, I had wrist pain recently but it was probably coming from my neck. Definately have your doctor check it out. Candybear is right about the wrist supports too! I worked at a job once and had to manually hole-punch 1,000 pages a day and wrecked my wrist not realizing what it was from and the doctor gave me a brace that was very nice :-)
