I thought I had solved my problems when I went to WalMart and bought some protein powder that you mix with milk, ice and whatever else. I faithfully drank at least two a day and sometime a little more. I basically quit eating other foods and even though the effort was primarily to keep the myelin sheaths on my nerves alive, I wanted so badly to lose weight with it.

I checked the main ingrediants, discovered all was ok there and never thought to read the fine print. I've been increasingly sick for two weeks. Yesterday if I had any sense at all, I would have called 911 to take me to the hospital.

That powder contains massive amounts of salt and potassium. I overdosed on both to the point of passing out, being dizzy, not being able to judge distances and just being very ill. Thank God literally that I had some antivert or I would have had no choice but call 911.

I've learned my lesson, but please be careful and read the fine print on everything you ingest.

My best to all,

Jan

((((((((( Freewill ))))))))))

Thank you very much. I hope that if I'm ever that sick again I have sense enough to call 911. It upsets me that I put others in jeapardy because I chose to drive while I was so sick. Warning About Protein Powders Warning About Protein Powders

What about protein bars? Because I have one every day before I go to practice and recently my heart has been hurting.

It depends on the protein source..? Protein from hemp or whey is a good source of protein. I use it all the time sometimes twice a day.

There are many sources of protein out there. Bars, shakes, etc..
Please becareful not to over use. It does tax the kidneys when used in large amounts.

Try to get protein from beans and lentils if u can. Woman be sure to take an iron supplement. Trust me animal protein is far worse for you then plant protein. If u have any doubts see a nutritionist. This is my own opinion, since I dont consume animal products.

Milk is another good source of protein, but many are Lactose intolerant, like myself. Besides cows milk was meant for calves not humans. We are a unique species in ourselves and really not meant to drink other species milk.

Soy, Almond and Rice Milk are great substitutes containing natural fats and omega 3's needed for Heart Health.

My diet habits that work for me may not work for others. Although i was 40lbs over weight and blood cholesterol at one time was 358. Its now under 200.

My energy has doubled and I have less mood swings. Just remember read the Labels on everything. Many of these protein bars have added stimulants like Caffeine and Taurine which can over stimulate the Heart!

Do away with processed sugars and replace with loads of fruit and veggies. Warning About Protein Powders

I too used Whey Protein twice a day in the past and it was both healthy and safe.
Doctors even Rx Whey Protein for their Diabetic Patients for in the Morning.

Jan....... Please look into the protein drink I mentioned to YOU - the DRINK got three thumbs by three different doctors.

For protein I eat tuna (packed in water when I don't find fresh)[b]almonds, walnuts, and cream of wheat and oatmeal.

I really have to watch my salt intake because I am naturally low in potassium, and extra salt can make me faint easily.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. That is one reason I just don't even try fake food.
