I am not sure. But I got a really good suspicion that I am diabetic . With all the stress of the past few months.. I really wondered if this would flare this up. The past few weeks I have noticed that I am really thirsty all the time. And about a half hour to 45 minutes after I eat I get really tired and need to go to sleep. I will be at the computer and sometimes do just that! lol. My mom was diabetic and so were her parents. She became diabetic when she was 35 ... well I made it a bit longer. But its still happening. I mean I dont know for sure.. but I've been around it long enough in my life that I see resemblences of the symptoms. I suppose I will have to go to the doctor sometime and get this checked out. I just hate it. And I know right now that I will not do the shots. I will refuse that. I cannot stand needles. I figured it would happen...

Sorry to post so late, but i too am diabetic. was dxd 2 years ago at the age of 37.

You may not necessarily need shots. sounds like a Type 2 which would mean pills and diet with exercise. its not hard. And I can help you if you want. feel free to PM me anytime.

Take care, and TEST your blood sugars if you have access to a tester. better to catch it now than later right?

Hope this helps.

Hey Bethy,
Don't figure you have it until you get tested! Your symptoms could just be coincidental. I will say a prayer for ya, hon.

Merry Christmas friend!!
Love,
Okie

I broke down.. called the doctor today. Talked to a nurse about all my sypmtoms I am having. She wanted me up there ASAP to get a blood glucose test. It was good. 96. And that was 2 and 1/2 hrs after eating. So they had the doctor come in. He asked how I was doing.. i told him everything thats been going on.
1.Loss of hair ( gobs when I wash it and sometimes more when I run my fingers thru my hair)
2. Thirsty all the time.
3. gaining more weight, despite more controled amount of food I am eating.
4. Almost a sure thing that I fall asleep 1/2 to 3/4 hr after i eat.
5.Lack of energy.. * have had this a long time*
6 constant tired feeling. This has been more so the past few months.
7.More sensitive to cold temps.
8.Depression. Which has increased.
9. Hair is dry but yet scalp is oilier. ( thought I had this figured out till this symptom) Are you thinking what I am?
10. MUSCLE CRAMPS AND STIFFNESS.... hmmm... is this something i thought might have been Fibromyalgia? Or is it a combination of both?

Thyroid. Doc thinks the same thing.. even with that other symptom thrown in there. BUT .. he also said that all of this could be stress also.. I agree... but I've seen myself in stressful situations.. and most of these symptoms do not show up for me.

So after I saw doc, he sent me across the hall to get blood tests for Hemoglobin A1c test. And Thryroid blood test. Dont ask which one because I was still sleepy and didnt even feel them poking me with the needle really.

I got home and I am thinking .. why did i drive? As bad as I feel.. I should not have been driving.

IDK.. all of this is scarey. My brother that passed away had alot of these things wrong, my mom died of diabetes, my grandparents did too. So there is a strong family history of it. I hope to get this figured out soon. I hope. They said 2 of the 3 blood tests should be back by tomorrow afternoon.. if not all 3. I dont want anything to be wrong .. but yet I do want to know if something is.

I'm proud of you for finally going to the doctor. That's just too much for anyone to try and figure out alone, much more treat! Here's hoping they find out what is causing problems for you. BTW our bodies change how we respond to stress, as we age. (Did I say that right? I figured it would happen...
