Depends on what surgery. They either do catheter or bed pan or help you out to the bathroom or have a bed side commode where you could go. There are options depending on the type of surgery and your recovery. I’d talk to your doc about it

Is this surgery for the esophagus thing? If that's the case they'll probably help you out to the bathroom, and if you can't walk in the mean time, like divine said catheters/bedpans.

If it's something like a colostomy of course you have colostomy bags too after that.

I just don't want to wake up in a diaper with a tube in my nose.

It will bring back super bad memories of this incident that happened in 2007

No tubes in your nose or diapers. If you are nervous talk to your doctor about it

I guess they do put an NG tube in after surgery. To make sure your stomach is going ok. Then you try food.

Was it lactulose? Looks like corn syrup? That is a very effective laxative. At least it was for one patient I remember specifically taking it because she got it during her therapy session with me and I had to be done within 30 minutes or else. She said it really cleaned her out too.

Oh I had that in the hospital once in a cup of hot prune juice. That’ll clear you out like you’re a building that’s fire alarm went off and everyone flees.
