I have had mine in my car for a week and never had any idea that I would give them to my new docs. I also was never going to read them as I am not one to upset myself intentionally. So today I was waiting for my friend to come to pick me up at the garage and I had taken those things out of my car. I ended up looking through them and found that dear old doc said I was somatisizing (sp) and that is why I had all of the pain. Well, too bad I got meds from the pain clinic and have tests to prove otherwise but he never acknowledged. I am so upset reading this %#@&#!. He is anti-therapy and thinks that "Happiness is a choice". It's a book by Barry Kaufman, I should be all better if I only wanted it.

ERRRR, He is one of the few in my little area who knows Lyme disease so I actually told my T about him and she went and changed docs. She was diagnosed a few months before me. I have met about 1 dozen people with Lyme and I don't get out much. Anyway, he was so awful in the records and to boot a lot was inaccurate and mis-transcribed, AND, I ended up with another woman's lab results!

Should I complain to the quality assurance person? I plan to. Dr. Quack also took my daughter off thryroid meds without a blood test and did not test her the 3 years she was on meds. I am hurt and I am going to take myself away from the PT as she is in the same county and is part of this ridiculous stuff.

What do I do? Do I report? Do I forget? I am upset. I don't want to read more. It was dumb to do so.

under HIPAA you have the right to review your files in the office and make corrections to errors

I had a similar situation with my sons mental health records. I was very angry and frustrated. After calming down a few days, I called the office, and the psychiatrist advised me I could type the "correct" version (as much detail as possible) and it would be added to the file to travel together whenever necessary.

So sorry this has happened, hope you are able to work through this with some peace.

Take care

Can you guys tell me something? I have the duplicate records in hand and the premenant Ones stay with the hospital practice. I have a new doc linked with a new hospital and I did not and will not give her the records. Would you still make the corrections? Would you make formal complaints about:
1. Spouse on anto coagulants and does a blood test. It comes back very low and office NEVER calls until 3.5 weeks later when I remembered it and asked him to call. Then it takes another 3-4 days to get us and tell us it is seriously low?
2. Daughter on thyroid meds for 3 years and he never tests blood again and never tests for Hashi motos? Daughter very ill at 20 with pain in 2 joints. He never did testing or anything about joints.
3. He states in records that he gave scripts he DID NOT GIVE, he puts derogatory info in chart re: in therapy long term put in a negative way, and that he thinks that I only have pain because I have strong emotions? Let me know what you think. In hindsight when pain flare in fall occurred I was having a Lyme flare up. Pain stopped after 2 weeks or less on anti biotics.

If you aren't giving another doctor the records and think there are others somewhere else, I wouldn't bother with doing anything with them or correcting or even reading them?

That the doctor you were seeing and his staff and setup made mistakes and was sloppy shouldn't affect a new doctor's office. Tests from only a little while ago aren't relevant anymore, they'll take their own tests, make their own decisions and mistakes. If a doctor is a 3-letter-word-beginning-with-a, won't matter what "proof" you have or don't have, what you say or don't say, etc. And if the doctor is any good, they could care less about what another doctor said and want to know you, the patient's experience.

I've only cared about records as it's a lot to remember, dates things happened and names of meds tried, etc. I had hospitalizations and didn't do well with some meds. Go with your first instinct wisewoman and close it up/don't bother with it/throw it in the trash or whatever.

Thanks Perna. it has caused me distress I did not need and wish I had not opened the darned thing. I will stick it away where the taxes go and forget it unless needed. Thank you so much.
