Daughter was recently diagnosed as having a colloid cyst. Neurosurgeon is just waiting and monitoring as if they operate it will be a full-blown craniotomy with so many risks involved. She has now had a headache for four days. She tells me today the pain is at a 9.5. Her neurosurgeon is not calling back nor is the nurse. We have no insurance but if I take her to er they will have to see her. The problem is we are a parent with mental health issues and I am so afraid they will think we are overreacting or underreacting or negligent or well you know the list goes on. Why cannot the dr just tell me what to do with her? Her dad says to just wait for it to go away. Am I crazy?

Wow, silent. That is a lot to take in. Honestly I would take her to the ER. Does your husband have mental health issues? I would ask him to take her, if you are worried that they may do something b/c of your mental health. Although I don't see where or why your mental health would come into question, if you r going in for your daughter's headache. Of course this is just my opinion.

Please just get your daughter in. Your mental health is irrelevant here. My kids have asthma and speaking only from my own experiences no time that i have ever taken them in to be treated has my mental health had anything to do with it. Personally i wouldnt have cared if it had come up. I was there for my kids. It wasnt about me. I'll do whatever i can (within boundaries) to take care of them. They mean everything to me. Im not at all saying you dont care about your daughter. Just simply encouraging you not to be worried about what anyone else thinks about you. Youre there for your daughter, and it sounds like she needs your help right now. Id encourage you to please get her in for her sake. Please. Best wishes and i hope your daughter feels better soon.

I did take her in. She has a sinus infection. The cyst appears stable. They also made a referral to a neurologist as the headaches and amount of pain she is in needs to be managed. Not sure how to get the money for the meds or the dr tho.

I hope she starts to feel some relief soon.

It is so hard to find help for meds and doctors these days. Can you get some help through different community agencies?

I'm so glad to hear you got her in. I'm not sure where you live, but if you're in the US maybe you could consider applying for medicaid for right now anyways. They actually cover just about everything. I've had it for my own children and I recall having very very small bills, if any at all, going this route. Just something to consider.

Again I'm very thankful to hear you got her in. Good Job!

I also believe in most states that if parents don't have insurance there is some sort of insurance that you can get just for kids or some sort of program.
