Hi um... I just started on this site it's bean very helpful and so has all the community I think this post thread is really good.

Welcome TheSquids. I haven't been too active in the transgender forums, even though I am transgender, but I have in others. I find these forums are great to find like minded individuals and to get/give support.

Glad you're here, TheSquids! You'll find that people here are very open and supportive to one another, even if it is a quieter section on these forums.

So it's me again and I finally told my brother and he didn't really care.
Which is odd and happy and confusing

My brother didn't care either. All I got was the "as long as you're happy" bit. It would have been nice if he took a little more interest in it as I'm sure it would have been for you.

Agreed I wish he would give me his honest opinion because I feel like he is hiding his true opinion.

Take your time. There's no "shoulds" and "have tos" here. There's a cool blog by a person called Mikah (neutrois.me) and there's a post titled "Disclosure is a spectrum". It's more about the stealth vs visibility debate, but I find it a useful rule to go by in relation to coming out as well. I don't have to come out to everyone at the same time. Even if we think that close family members have "a right to know", we have to learn that concerning our identity and the process of figuring out who we are and want to be we don't owe anything to anyone!

Went to my first Pride. It was pretty awesome. Met great people, and I felt like I could be myself.

I've been exploring my identity, meeting up with queer folk... and it's great. Going back home... I don't know. I can't be as open.

A wile back me and my dad got me girls socks "reason was cause they were way more comfy than my other socks" makes me feel so good wearing them . But I can't all the time or they tear which sucks now I only wear them on fancy occasions with my fancy shoes .

I don't know maybe if me and my dad go shoe or sock shopping again.

I am impressed that you were able to buy girls' socks with your dad. How did the subject come up when you were with him and what was his reaction when he found out that you wanted them?

Well it was almost none cause we got them cause my feet can breath and the socks are soft so my dad did not react much no Ci+Na=Explosion+Salt. Yes I know the periodic table.

The reason It got brought up was cause we were shoe shopping so...

It interests me because many dads would get upset about girls' socks, or girls' anything , and be against you buying them. Who paid for them?

Hello! I hope everyone's weekend is going okay. I wanted to post here since I come to this forum a lot. I've changed my username from Adespota to Rand.

Your dad seems like a helpful and understanding guy in this situation. Generally speaking, how understanding and helpful is he with you?

Really understanding he's a really good dad and is home most of the time so yeah really good dad and understanding while my mom's super protective.

So if you were to tell him your news, it sounds like he might take it pretty well. What do you think?

And how about your mom? How might she react?
