Isn't that an inflammation of the prostate? If it's what I'm thinking it is, they probably want to know what's causing the inflammation. Maybe it's just an infection that could be cleared up with a round of antibiotics.

Yeah, i will run some analyses tomorrow to get to know what kind of inflammation this is. Doc will evaluate test results for another day after it. So, i'll have to live in obscurity for 2 days more.
I have read that 30% of men had this disease at some point of their life or in chronic form. Why i cant find anyone who has this on the internet? Why no replies at all? I need support so much right now and i cant find it anywhere. This thing might lead to erectile dysfunction, infertility and even cancer. I am so afraid! And i dont know if i should tell my girlfriend about it, probably not. My ex dumped me when i had problems with withdrawal from antidepressants. Im worried this girl will dump me too if she would get to know that i will probably be useless in sex department.

I think one reason you're not finding a lot of guys that have experience with it is because with today's medical practices it takes a bit of luck just to catch it. I know I only recently got my doctor to even do a PSA screening. If I had an inflamed prostate, I would probably not even know until something bad happened.

Second, I think it's too early to think the worst. The good thing is that it's been detected and now you can do something about it. As GI Joe used to say, "Knowing is half the battle." Not knowing that something is wrong is the scary part. Hang in there, you'll get through it. Right now the only thing is that you have inflammation of the prostate, and you'll get the treatment you need soon.

Finally, you're not useless in the sex department and you're on your way to getting treatment. If your girlfriend dumps you because of a possibility in the future, she definitely isn't the right girl for you. If you guys are close you should let her know. If you're just getting started, I wouldn't worry about telling her until you have more definitive information.

Thanks man, appreciate your support.
In 2 days results of blood and urine tests will be available. Ultrasonography showed that my prostate has perfectly fine size and no signs of deviations, though doctor said that it means nothing and disease still can be serious even without visual symptoms. I keep reading on the internet, that most of cases are completely untreatable. I am so afraid of being doomed to have this thing for whole life. I feel like im falling into very serious depression and i cant afford therapy.
I forgot to mention one of my concerns. Can i still smoke weed? I found informational contradiction. Which article should i believe?

Personally I wouldn't. Pot in regular amounts (as in smoking regularly and consistently) is known to affect men's sexual function. I don't know the mechanism, but given that the prostate is important to sexual function, I personally would err on the side of caution and not do pot at least until you've got all the test results back and you've been able to discuss the next steps with your doctor.

It might be something to revisit later, but until you've got all the test results and such back I would take a hiatus.

I got test results. I have non-chronic (yet) bacterial form, that should be treated with antibiotics. He told me to come back in 21 days. Does it change anything in your opinion? Doc prescribed to me only one type of painkiller pills and they work not that good. I just hoped that weed could make the pain disappear.

First of all, that's awesome news! Just a little infection and some antibiotics you'll be back to normal.

And yeah, since it's just a wee infection causing things, some o' the chronic now than then will probably be fine.

Thanks for the support! Unfortunately, its not that of good news. Doc said it would be considered chronic if it would re-appear even once in the next 5 years. Five years! Chances are very high. He said that erectile dysfunction is a myth and prostatitis doesnt cause it. Do you think he lied to cheer me up? He said that infertility is real danger though. Im afraid i'll never be able to be a father. For the moment im fertile according to the test, but who knows what its gonna be further. i would become a father now, while im fertile, but im so young and dont have enough finance independence.

Well, erectile dysfunction is usually caused by things like low testosterone levels, high blood pressure ... stuff like that. Like I mentioned about marijuana, I don't know that the prostate can affect normal erections, I'm just not sure of that mechanism. (I'm thinking it's more of the depressive nature of THC that causes any issues.)

Personally, I don't think he lied about it. You probably don't have to worry about dysfunction with this.

However, if the infection does cause some kind of damage to your prostate then I can see how semen production could be adversely affected leading to infertility. BUT ... you're getting on some antibiotics and will get it cleared up so I don't think you've got anything to worry about. Just keep an eye on things, and make sure you take all of the antibiotics as instructed and you'll be back to 100% before you know it.

Men who are treated for testicular cancer often bank semen for future use - that may be an option in your case with prostate infections too if the Dr feels infertility is a possible outcome. I don't have a clue what it costs or if insurance covers it but it might? Worth asking about if it would help ease your mind.

I know its unlikely, but if someone is interested in how i am doing, read the thread i create in "coping with emotions" section: http://forums.psychcentral.com/copin...ease-help.html
I would be grateful is someone would write an opinion about those cysts.
