Guess I may have come of in a way someone didn't like. I have been a way for a while as the summer is usually a pretty busy time around my way. Now I have finally ventured back as so many times before and see some new people posting here. Always nice to see new names around here. Well most of the time at least. For those here that don't know me I am diagnosed NPD. Does this make me greater here? Probably but not only cause I'm one of the lucky diagnosed few here more just cause I'm me. To the ones I have spoke to before, hello. To the new ones I have yet to speak with, welcome!! I am pleased to enlighten you with my presence, yes yes your more than welcome. On a serious note I have been off all medicine for probably close to a year now. It was a complete waste of time and I truly believe I did take only to see what I could ask for and actually get. Turns out anything I wanted I got. What a shocker, right?!! My drinking got to be too much so I have limited that intake in the last couple of weeks because I felt I was becoming one who needed to attend meetings or at least soon enough. Other than all that things are going well, very busy with work, families good and another chapter is in the books. It's mostly good to be back.
Most sincere,
The Underground

Glad to see you post and that things are mostly going well. I think it really does help the discussion to have people diagnosed with NPD here. It has certainly helped me deal with my own narcissism -- I think it's something everybody has, if you're lucky you grow out of it, if you're not it gets messed up in one way or the other.

Come on now. You see I opened the door yesterday and now I am being ignored by someone LOL. So many serious things being spoken about here, all I want to do is chuckle. Is that too much to ask??!! Well between the two of us I am sure the laughter can soon begin again..... Sister-In-Arms!!

Aww. . .I've done my best, too, to help this place going while Underground was away! I don't have the full credentials, but I think I deserve some acknowledgment as an (un?)wicked step-sister. Wicked in my own way , for good or ill.

I've very much appreciated the opportunity to be my "real" narcissistic self here -- that's not all of me, perhaps obviously, but some of me. Not allowed anywhere else that I know of.

I'll bite. I'm not looking to fit in. I wish I didn't have narcissistic tendencies. I find it amusing that anyone would want to have narcissistic tendencies. Some of the people who I know who have them are in total denial, the others have no problem stating it. I don't know a single person who actually wishes they were narcissistic. That makes no sense to me.
Thanks for this!

I've met a few who wish they were narcissistic. Like not just confident or whatever, they actually want to be seen as narcissists. I don't understand it.

I don't think they want to pay the price for being that way. The most narcissistic people I know are in total denial. As I stated yesterday I got publicly critiqued for starting my sentences with I. When I pointed out to that person another person just did the same thing I got told it's something to strive for. Why am I the one that needs to be told that? I hope that I never open my mouth around that person again other then to say, hi and bye. How humiliating . That person was the same age as my mother so of course it hit me where it hurt as my last unpleasant interaction with my mother was only a couple of months ago. If I could avoid this person I would but we belong to the same parish and are in the same ministry. I'm trying to come up with a post to describe these wounds for another forum.

Oh, I'm not new, I've been here since 2/15/14 and at that point in time my PD NOS was still being treated so I wasn't posting in the NPD forum yet.

Truth be told I have seen so many come and go. For some strange reason there have been a few that seem to have to challenge me here and I never understood why. Ha ha that's a lie, people enjoy challenging me because they feel inferior to me. Classic narcissistic trait I suppose. When this would happen it would make writing back so much fun. Though at times it caused me to be suspended here and warned about being thrown out for good. I guess learning how to bite your tongue is an example all Ns need to work on. Still working on that by the way. I guess when I see newbies I am always in that mode. Ready to pounce when someone has something to say that I do not appreciate. I don't want to sound to Narcissistuc (wink wink) but I do feel that for a long time people were here mostly because of me (and maybe one other, you know who you are). So many have come and gone, so many will do the same. This place helps. It allows me to be real, funny at times and also feeds the needs. It's like a whirlwind of great stuff. I appreciate my loyal fans, my friend and the ones who left who couldn't handle the heat. I come and go but always find my way back in. The things you get to see here are priceless. My legacy shall continue as long as air remains in my lungs. I couldn't do this without my fans, I love you all. You make coming here so enjoyable. When my book is finished I shall offer this to you first, signed and personalized. I thank you for the years past and to the ones ahead. Just remember if you work hard anything is possible. Keep keepin on!!
Your number one,
The Underground

Learning how to bite my tongue has been a tough one for me, can't imagine why ha ha ha!

Seriously though I get it. It's hard to ignore that instinct to just pounce on the souls who displease you.

This forum has been far more entertaining since you've been a member. And besides the laughter, I've genuinely learned a lot from your posts. I don't dish out compliments unless I really appreciate someone so feel special. *gives ego stroke*

Why did you choose the name Underground anyways? Indulge my curiosity next time you're inclined.

Cheers,

Dr. Disaster

This does mean something to me. When I see my ally giving me the ole ego stroke, magical!! LOL For real though I do know my humor is not for all. My wife always tells me I am the worst at jokes as they are usually very inappropriate and very rude. Don't know why she says this, of wait I do it's because I have NPD!!! The name Underground is just so fitting. People are usually so cookie cutter, roaming around the earth like many others. If underground was a way to live this is were I would be. A place that belongs to people like me, sorta like this forum. I am far from the cookie cutter type. I am my own and someone who is their own belongs in a place like no other I guess. This place for me is UNDERGROUND.. Not sure if this makes sense but trust me I get it. Atypical, you make time here worth it. I do appreciate the subtle ways that probably I only get. The ways that people don't even realize whats happening. The beliefs that one is genuine when in fact we are so alike. The amusement we get by the things we do are what is so priceless. Let's keep it up and only a select few shall ever understand. How great is the puzzle??
Thanks for this!

I'm pretty notorious for my dark humor. Not everyone gets it, and I offend people regularly lol. I'm excellent at inappropriate and rude, it figures you and I get along HA HA HA.

I like the explanation of your username. It makes sense to me but I'm fluent in Narcissistic.

Subtle is an art form, I would expound but that's a trade secret, ha!

Human beings are naturally oblivious creatures, concerned only with themselves(yet you and I have the label, ironic). It's easy to tap into that obliviousness and use it to your advantage.

I like seeing who "gets it" and who doesn't. Says a lot now doesn't it?

From the Wikipedia article on True and False Self:

Quote:
Kohut extended Winnicott's work in his investigation of narcissism,[19] seeing narcissists as evolving a defensive armor around their damaged inner selves.[20] He considered it less pathological to identify with the damaged remnants of the self, than to achieve coherence through identification with an external personality at the cost of one's own autonomous creativity.[21]
Are you really writing a book, Underground?

People have been lobbying to get Underground to write a book about narcissism basically since he ever started posting here so I assume that's the subject haha.

Why do you keep posting quotes and links to various articles and so on instead of saying what you think about any of these various subjects you've been posting quotes and articles about?

What do you think about the true/false self thing? Your opinion is just as valid as some so-called expert.
