We've created a new Mood Tracker for folks that tracks depression, mania and anxiety (as well as your sleep patterns).

Please check it out and leave us any feedback -- positive or negative -- here in this thread, thank you!

Thanks for the invitation. I've noticed that many here do seem to be paying close attention to their moods. I used to, and often arranged my day around either what mood I found myself in or what mood I thought I needed to get into in order to do whatever I was supposed to be doing.

Nowadays I'm more likely to "tuck my mood under my arm" and go on about my business. I can see a risk that I might neglect to allow for how I'm feeling and get into trouble as a result. In practice, that seldom seems to happen.

To those who do track their moods: best of luck, and may it prove productive for you. Me (kidding -- sort of):

I like this mood tracker better than the rest I have seen. The other trackers I found require you to guess how manic/depressed/whatever you are. Since I know that I am not supposed to be manic/depressed/whatever I am having a hard time admitting my mood state with those trackers.

Answering the questions about my mood is much easier for me. I might actually stick with a tracker like this.

I liked the scales used ... like previous members said, rating on a scale of 1-10 is a pain in the butt sometimes!

I'm a bit surprised that it told me to be potentially concerned about "mania" though. I know I'm sometimes hyper... but it doesnt seem to differentiate well between potential ADHD, and caffeine-induced or anything like that...

I do have a question... with the question around asking what your primary concern/diagnosis is as the first question - what does that do to influence the results? Just confirm/deny what you think is wrong with you? Or does it influence the scores somehow?

I think the mood tracker is good... but it could always have lots and lots and lots more questions. It could always be stretched to incorporate other questions ... like smushing together different things from the depression test, and the anxiety test... and all those sorts of things. Not saying it MUST have those, but it would be kinda cool.

I'm also very bad at math, and trying to figure out my average sleeping time over a week is bloody hard. But that's just me.

I liked it, especially the colourful graph at the end! Very pretty to look at.

Maybe increasing the word cap/length on the "journal entry" part as a suggestion?

Thanks for the comments and feedback so far!

Just to be clear, the new mood tracker is not like the "choose a mood" drop-down box here in the forums. The mood tracker is meant primarily to help a person track their depression, bipolar or anxiety.

The pick a disorder is primary for noting if you're in a manic or depressed phase of bipolar disorder.

You're right in that the new mood tracker probably doesn't do a great job in differentiating between ADHD, caffeine-induced energy, and mania. We will enhance the explanation on display of results to note this limitation.

The Mood Tracker really starts to get interesting if you commit to doing it once per day or even just once per week. Viewing past scores shows you a nice trend that you can do something with if need be.

I appreciate that those of you who've tried other mood trackers online notice ours is different. I also looked at a bunch of them and was unhappy with their lack of really getting very in-depth with your mood, or expecting you to know what it was upfront. And then their display of your mood was also unsatisfactory to me. Hence the reason we developed this one from scratch and our existing mood measuring quizzes.

Keep the comments coming!

DocJohn

Never tried a mood tracker before. It will be interesting to track. My thoughts initially are that my moods are based on the situations that I encounter in my life more than my moods influencing my situations.

It will be interesting to see how this actually in reality tracks rather than what I am supposing is to be true in my mind.

Thank you for putting this mood tracker together. I am very interested to see what my personal long term results are going to be.

Looks good, but on this computer there's a bunch of Google adverts that hide the drop-down box at the top and the first question: http://i41.tinypic.com/algcy8.jpg

Is there any way to fix this?

Full of WIN, for sure.

The only thing I would request is the same thing someone else did -- more room for the journal entry.

Otherwise, I'm bookmarkin' this baby and actually using it! (That's tended to be a problem for me with other mood trackers.) As always, Doc --

I have never used a mood tracker before, so have nothing to compare this one to, but will give impressions.

Direct, easy to use, straightforward results. I agree with enhancing the explanations, and that a wider range of questions could be helpful. And even though I didn't write a journal entry, I could see how 255 characters might be difficult to work with. Though I will post to blog for longer things, so it may not impact my use, much. Overall I think it can be helpful if used regularly.

Thanks DocJohn

I think it's a good idea, never heard of a mood tracker before! I had a very difficult time choosing between depression or anxiety, is it that big a deal? Both are big problems for me right now.

Also I do like the idea of doing it daily or weekly - often - so I can perhaps find any patterns. I can use all the help I can get!

I strongly disagree with an average of 61/2 hours of sleep in the past week being no problem. I need 8 - 9 to feel good. My brain is foggy from lack of sleep right now.

Issue with mood tracker.

I haven't got the foggiest idea what I did or how it's happened...

The first time I took this test (3 days ago now) everything was fine.
I took it yesterday as well, no problem.
Today, I just took it now... and there IS an issue.

The "x axis" (horizontal) line description for THREE days ago reads... "31st December".

Which is clearly not when I took the test for the first time

Thanks DocJohn for the mood tracker!

I found it very easy to use and liked that you could journal a bit. I'll definitely use it at least a few times a week as my time permits!
