I don't know where to post this

Does someone know about dissociation. I had a really rough therapy session today.

I was explaing about how I feel "outside" of myself and it freaks me out. I don't know how to explain it.

She said that is dissociate behavior.

Is this right?

OMG I know that feeling. Somtimes I can be laying in bed adn feel as if I am floating and I am totally zoned out. Some times when I have had a bad day and I am driving home, I find myself staring out the window still driving and when I get home I am like how did I get here. I know that feeling you are talking about!!!!!

Oh yes .. I get that feeling to, but this one is even stronger ...I can't even explain it.

It actually freaks me out.

I feel "outside" of myself just doing nothing. Even like I don't know myself. I can be walking down the street and I see myself in a mirror or a window and I don't know me...or I'm like is that me?

I feel like I lost me sometimes.

That's part of it. I am having a hard time even explaining this Dissociative ?

Eva,

There have been many posts on this board over time describing similar things to what you seem to be describing.

My suggestion if you are interested would be to use the search feature here and search the Depression forum and the Psycotherapy forum with the term "dissociation" and you'll come up with many hits.

The Dissociative Disorders forum here has several threads that may relate to what you describe.

In the resource directory up top here clicking on the Dissociation link will bring up a link to a site called Empty Minds. Their page on the dissociative spectrum:

eva, any time. dissociation was only scary for me when i became aware of it. it was very scary then...until i learned that i was always ok...whether on "auto pilot" or whether someone else was front. in fact, auto pilot can be a great thing for me now.

be safe and pm any time.
