I didn't say anything in post that I haven't said directly to Sky before. I'm not so uncaring and rude as to do that to anyone, much less Sky, whom I love and respect AND understand! I'm sorry you didn't know that before. Probably because you're among the newer people. (Heaven forbid I should call you "newbie." Some think that is an insult. ggrrrrr)

I just re-read my post and I really sound angry at you. I'm not. Please forgive me for that. But I AM angry! I'm angry that it seems that Sky can't make a post without someone taking issue with it! You know? I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer and I understand her! I'm not the most caring person on earth, but I've taken the time, the compassion and whatever else I've needed to accept Sky just as she is. There's much about Sky to love and respect! It's too bad that so many can't see beyond their own nose to recognize that! GAWD!!!!

I guess I've been duly scolded. Really, I don't need it.

SeptemberMorn, of course you're not uncaring or rude. And...I am a newbie... My guess is that on a support forum like this, ppl don't want to hear they're a newbie because they might think others don't give much weight to their posts. No one has ever treated me like that at PC though and I think calling ppl newbies is fine...it's what we are. By the way, when do we stop being newbies? Let's be accurate when we can Let's be accurate when we can

Well crap, I think I've caused a hi-jack...oops...sorry Sky. Back to the topic.

np when it comes to some of us oldtimers.... some of you will be newbies a long time. No. not really... once you've posted or read enough to realize the flow of the site, and not reel from an oldtimer's comment that other oldtimer's understand... and when you declare you feel like you are not a newbie anymore? hi jack away...

changing cognitive behavior is what this thread is all about

WHY? WHY? WHY? Did this thread turn ugly? I hate that. I have spoken with sky and apologized for misunderstanding her comparison to my post. I think she has a good point. I do. I do not know Sky well. And we have had our differences. LOL, But I am open to forming a relationship with her. Thats all I have to say.

maybe ... the assumption that all behavioral therapies are CBT is a cognitive distortion, falling under Overgeneralization? just thinking...

Like I said in my original post - being a relative newbie, I even hesitated to post at all.......but having said that - this whole thread is unbelievable. IF a person wants to start a "discussion".....IMHO, they do so without telling "whoever" they were addressing that there was an "inaccurate" usage of the term Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. A "discussion" starts with something other than an "accusation". Perhaps, something along the lines of "I always thought CBT stood for Cognitive Behavior Therapy , but I have been seeing it written as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - any thoughts as to why it is called both?"

I have seen people be mean and petty over something that is really a tad foolish. AS DocJohn pointed out, it is correct BOTH ways.

I don't know SKy, and until this thread, had not seen anything but supportive and caring posts from her. YES, there have been threads thru out the entire site that were "for fun", or "off topic" (perhaps in some people's opinions ) for a "support site", but comparing the bickering here, and a thread someone else started because it was of interest to them, seems rather mean spirited.

I suppose after reading the definition of "newbie", I will always be one, because I sure as heck don't see what the "oldtimers" understanding the reasoning behind this bickering on this thread is all about.

I am outta this thread - I REGRET ever having posted to it. I have tried to be supportive, and helpful, and pleasant to everyone. I do not get annoyed easily, but to argue about the usage of ONE word, over and over, seems unkind and uncaring................

Have a good night and a better tomorrow.

Let's be accurate when we can Let's be accurate when we can Let's be accurate when we can (even though you aren't coming back to read this)

I suppose I should contact the Ph.D. I do transcription for and "gently" remind her that her usage of cognitive BEHAVIORAL therapy is inaccurate. Gee, wonder how long I'd be working for her after that?

I suppose I should also tell several other dictators that to use "also" and "as well" in the same sentence is inaccurate, and that saying "TMJ joint" is also redundant. I could probably go on for DAYS listing language usage errors that I hear in my work, not all of them by English as a second language speakers, and they've all had years and years of education.

Would anyone like to know what happens if we (the medical transcriptionists with my company) send a message through the error reporting system pointing out "unacceptable" personal dictation style to a doctor or other medical service provider? An office-wide e-mail gets sent out saying how very inappropriate that is. We are to fix their blatant language and grammatical errors, even if we have to do it for the remainder of our days as a transcriptionist. So maybe that's what we ALL need to do in here - fix everyone's "dictation" in our heads and keep our mouths shut.

I will always be a newbie too, because I don't see what blindly accepting what a rather small number of members does has to do with being considered an old timer. What are we doing here? Comparing "new" and "old" to "rebel" and "butt kisser?"

OK, put me right back at day-one newbie status for speaking my mind, because only "old timers" are allowed to say anything about feeling dissatisfied.

IN MY OPINION your reply is really unkind! It shows absolutley NO effort to try and understand but instead it agravates the situation even more by ridiculing Sky!

Folks, while I do try to appreciate Sky's point here, I see nothing good coming from keeping this thread open. It's just turned into something unhealthy here, and I know that wasn't her intention. Sorry....
