I called my therapist who I haven't seen since October.. I have set up sessions for March.. I'm really scared to go because when I quit I just disappeared.. I don't know how she is going to react... I know I need to go and we had a tight bond between us but I feel I let her down..I have gone down hill slide since I haven't seen her and we have alot of catching up to do..I just can't get past the fear.. I'm also agoriphobic and am afraid thats going to inerfear with me going to sessions.. I quit going because she was pushing me to get out of the house more.. I have isolated myself for seventeen years, only going out when I have to..I don't see her for a month but already the panic is setting in..

Gee, Stranger, that's hard. I didn't see my therapist for 9 years and had some of your fears starting up again. Waiting doesn't make it any easier, your head can really do a number on you with wondering how it will be and what will happen.
How did she sound on the phone when you made the appointment? Mine sounded greatly pleased (lift in her voice when she figured out it was me) and was thrilled we'd be able to work on working some things through that we hadn't finished when I left 9 years earlier. The first session I just "dumped" on her :-) I had so much to tell her about, LOL. I bet the meeting will go fine. Don't let that nasty old agoraphobia get the better of you!

Stranger, people just bailing are part of a therapist's reality. I'm sure she will be relieved to hear that you are still in one piece and that you know enough to get back in touch when you need help. If she is a little irritated, Aw, tough #it. She's a big girl, she will get over it in a couple of seconds, or she shouldn't be in that line of work. NAxiety can play havock with us and try to get us to second guess folks when we really don't have enough to go on to do so. Remind yourself that, and give the obsessing as much attention as you would a passing banana fly. Don't fight it, don't entertain it (or all the bananas will get infested). Easy said, hard done, but it's worth practicing. Hugs!

hey you : )
i am so glad you called her ((yay)) . . . i have a feeling, that she will make you feel very comfortable. you may dread it the night before, that morning but five minutes into your visit with her, she will make you feel right at home, at ease. i think that old rapport , that bond you had with her, will still be there. . . i am very very happy you made this decision (woohoo) i will be here to see you through it, no matter what ((hugs))

I'm glad you called her too.
![]() I hope you'll let her know if you bail again. Therapist's can't just "call" a patient that has "disappeared" as it's against ethics. So when you disappear, T just has to wonder....

the waiting part is always the hardest. bleah.
Since you have a problem with agoraphobia, could you ask a friend to come with you to the office, that way it might be easier to get out of the house? |

if she's a professional, then she won't take anything personally, and it's part of the job. you'll feel like slipping on a comfortable old pair of shoes when you come face to face with her again and all your fears will disappear, you'll have alot of catching up to do but that's therapy right. good luck when March rolls around. I dropped my talk T because I couldn't afford to go, and I still see her when I go to the P, and she's ok about everything. she'll understand, when you explain where you have been.

Hi - I had a simmilar situation with my therapist. But she was wonderful. Like other people have said, this is something you are doing for you - she's not going to tell you off, she's there to help you - and you need to want to be there for it to work at all. So, the fact that you have made an appointment now shows you are open to help and want to help yourself. Her biggest concern will be helping you and making the most of your session, so try not to worry - you are having a session, that's what matters now.
I hope your appointment gives you some strength and hope x
