if i see one more interview, one more story or headline, about MJ, i'm going to cry.........let the world focus on something other than a strange man who slept with little boys........please..........i'd like to see something about education, poverty or health plans.......how about you?

7.0 earthquake off the coast of Northern California. (thank silver in the u.k. for the head's up to me here in CA! lol)
It's big! but not damaging as it was way out in the ocean and not the type of quake to cause terror in the hearts of Californians. Guess they felt it some way up in Eureka. How's that fer news? |

The popular press panders to the lowest common denominater and writes to the reading level of the fifth grade . We're not likely to find whats really truely important to think about in the mass media unless we do what you've done here Pat: look deeper for ourselve and talk amongst ourselves about what is relevent and material. Just look at the weekly best-seller lists of nonfiction and you see- celebrity bios and b-ullshit.

On one level, I totally agree, but as a human being, I know that this is an occurance/issue that tortures my heart.....I have young children and I never want them to be victimized....somehow...I think it's torturing many of us.....did a guilty man go free?....will he abuse children in the future?...it's just a tough and thought provoking situation...but I promise...no further posts from me...grace

Well said kathyanita. I can't follow the news on a daily basis anymore because I don't have patience to sift through the worthless bull anymore. Thanks Silver for bringing us something news worthy.
Is anyone else concerned about California being near/on fault lines and these plates? I'm from Texas so we have tornados to deal with (I've actually live here my entire life and have never seen one up close or been affected by one), but I don't perceive them as being anywhere near the threat of what California has to deal with. I would be scared to death to live there...don't know how people do it. I know it's a beautiful place to live, but for me I couldn't justify the trade off.

Sure is! We had a tzunami warning last night! YIKES!!
 Even though I didn't believe it, because in the 40+ yrs I've lived in S. CA, we've never had either a tzunami or any talk of one, it did send a chill through me when my DIL called and asked that we put Autumn's life preserver on her!Like Sky told me, it's only "media terrorism," but still...

Hey "Micky," I agree with you. Some said that as long it's not in their back yard... Being a past victim of sexual abuse, it's NOT okay in anyone's back yard! Kids are kids all over the world and all are subject to the trauma and emotional scarring.

LOL But there's sand storms and heat in Texas! Lived there for 18 yrs, ya know! In some parts, there's even hurricanes! YIKES! I'll take the occasional earthquake and the "media terrorism."
