And I don't know why. Recently, I've started stuttering (it comes and goes), I get my words mixed up in a sentence, I get the beginning of words mixed up (so instead of saying "silly cat" I'll say "cilly sat", for example), and if I'm spelling a word I may miss out a letter or get them in the wrong order.

I'll go through periods where I'll think constantly, and I'll have a constant stream of thoughts, then they'll get out of hand and they'll just carry on going into triggering thoughts. Then something will go "shut up, just shut up" or words to that effect and it'll stop, and I won't be able to recall what it was I was thinking of. I'm going through a phase now where I'm just not thinking at all, and my brain is just empty, no thoughts going through it or anything.

Why are these things happening? I'm confused.

Could the part with the words be that your thoughts are so fast as to not be able to be precise?...like a bit of hyperactivity? As far as the constant thinking thing...I do that to...including telling thoughts to 'shut up'...it is annoying.I also get unsolicited negative thoughts. The not thinking anything at all may be a shutdown in your mind for self preservation...an extention of low energy or depression...I have no idea why you and I have these issues. But I do experience it ...pervasively.I am sorry and you aren't alone.------->(a hug)...(((internal disruption)))
Thanks for this!

I think the word would be hyperactivity, it does feel like my thoughts for what I'm going to say are slower than the words are coming out of my mouth, and I do get unsolicited negative thoughts, I got told it was thought insertion because, for me, it felt like the thoughts, words, and images were coming from outside my head, and it felt like they weren't coming from me.

I have depression, so I understand why I go through periods of not thinking.

Thanks, its nice to know I'm not alone. It really frustrates me when I get my words mixed up and my sentence comes out all jumbled, I sound like such a retard.

I sometimes mix up the beginnings of my words too. Like I'll say "Let's go wall malking" instead of "Let's go mall walking".

I wonder if you're on any medicines that could be causing all of your symptoms? I also think a basic checkup with the doctor would be in order to rule out any neurological problems. I guess I'd be concerned that all of this started suddenly.

we cant tell you why or what is happening to you. Diagnosing each other is forbidden here. but the sudden onset of symptoms is the body or minds way of saying somethings not right here. Contact your doctors and they can tell you what and why this is happening to you and get it treated.

Thanks (: no I know, I was just wondering, and to reply to iluvpups, I haven't started any medication, so I am also confused as to why this is happening.

The frustrating thing is when I tell people about it they always go "I've never heard you do it". But I know I have done it.

Look to your previous post where you stated...'I sound like such a retard'.I would like to gently nudge you to think of someone you love....would you say 'you are a retard' if they jumbled their words?.....It would be great self care to try to unlearn being unkind to your self.I wonder your age group. Not because you sound young....but because while in teens and young twentys there are many who will tease and such.So I thought ...is someone teasing or criticising this person?Anyways I want you to think of the prettiest, smartest ,most together people you know.Whats left if they lose those attributes.Their spirit. So understand that who you are inside and your kindness to others is ....in the end....all that really matters to those who are true friends.Hugs.Forgive the 'many' words as I have had much coffee lol.But I am a mom of an 18, 20 ,and 23 year old.So I am being a 'mommy'....LOL.~WOolf

I don't think anyone even attempted to diagnose, as if we could ever be allowed to forget ....

((((Wolf)))) that is such a lovely post you made

Hello ID,

I've had that problem for so long now I can not remember ever being different. My family and friends used to just laught at it. Now that I'm older it's "your getting senile" lolll

I know too that I even think the words muddled before I say them, so I think it is a brain fart (I'm not diagnosing you I promise, though "brain fart" has been used in medical circles before now.).

I also stutter and trip over words that simply come out too soon too quickly and I have to put up with it because the doctor told me that if I've always been like that there is little chance the meds cause it. So I just come out with the piddlypop and smile, take a breath and try to say it again at which time everyone else says it for me something I get rather agitated about,

Rhiannon

Don't worry, I know that diagnosing on these help forums is forbidden (: I'd just like an idea, not a definitive answer and any possible reasons as to why it started.

It comes in waves though, sometimes I can speak properly and other times I'll trip over my words, or my speech will come out faster than my thoughts.

Greetings,

If it is truly a concern, seek out a medical professional. Especially if it becomes more severe.

Have a good one.

I suspect a lot of us (I, anyway) have trouble with our thoughts. This seems to be due to past traumas which resulted in our withdrawing our thoughts so that they would not overwhelm us with their associated feeling of danger. Do you think your thought trouble could be of this kind, or is it something that you think is more likely due to some "physical" cause?

I have had similar symptoms to those you describe and mine were caused by anxiety. Have you seen your doctor and/or gotten a mental health evaluation (you say you're depressed but not on meds)?

Perna, I would add to your list of goals "CURE".

Yeah, I have depression and BPD but I'm not on any medication :/

I haven't had any recent head traumas which could've affected the area of my brain associated with speech.

It could be Pachy, I've noticed it's affecting my typing, like if I think ahead of what I'm typing then I'll begin to type the word I was thinking of, then type the end of another word further down the sentence. It's annoying.

I experienced the same thing. Long before I was diagnosed as depressed, I noticed I was stumbling ovef words that I normally wouldn't.
