Why is it so difficult to find these type of informational resources? I'm angry! I still don't think this covers everything I'm looking for.

website: Handling your Psychiatric Disability in Work and School

An interactive and informative web site for people with a psychiatric condition that addresses issues and reasonable accommodations related to work and school. This is the only site designed exclusively to provide information about the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other employment and education issues for people with psychiatric disabilities. Get the information that you need about the ADA, reasonable accommodations, and disclosure.

Well, I think you've hit on a good need! Usually, each of the individual disorder's support sites give the information.. specific to that type of disorder and need. To cluster them all on one site would be good, allowing the patient the choice of which ideas etc would work for them in their situation.

I guess the area that I need support is this:

I don't have adequate GPA or SAT scores to be accepted into degree programs I choose. I'm certain if I didn't have a psychiatric disability, then I would have the scores necessary.

How do I find assistance? I'm looking for the right words to say, the right questions to ask. The anxiety I feel will have me crying miserably in front of some university staff member as I ask for help.

Should it be so difficult for people with psychiatric disabilities to ask for help to obtain college degrees?

Have you talked with thecollege or university's advisor on this? They surely know the regulations and allowances.. from retaking the tests with more time to other avenues! I wouldn't want everyone to know, but you must seek out the person who can help. Good wishes!
