OK!!!

Hubby was hired at a resort about 2 1/2 weeks ago doing what he has been doing for years....conference services. Setting up classrooms, dinners, parties and dances. When he was hired, he was told that his shift will be 6 am to 2:30 pm. The MORNING SHIFT!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, he has been working mid shifts since he started for the "training" and his boss said after that is done then he would be scheduled for AM.

Well hubbies boss was making next weeks schedule and he scheduled hubby for mids and night shift. Hubby said to his boss "hey, I was hired for morning shift, not mids and night". His boss said well your gonna have to work some nights. Hubby said, "look, I was hired for am and was told mids were for the training period only". His boss acting like he never said that to hubby. So hubby said "Either, I work the morning shift or I walk". His boss was like well.....I cant schedule you for all mornings. Hubby said "Well, I walk.". So hubby quit and his last day is Friday. Hubby told his boss that he doesnt appreciate being lied to just to get him in there and then not follow through on his word to keep him at the morning shift.

Hubby is pissed. I am pissed. Hubby told me not to worry. He will pounding the pavement for a new gig starting next week.

I just hate liars and deceivers. They tell you want you want to hear and then they rope you in and BAM.......LIES. ALL LIES.

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Jen}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} I've heard of that happening more times than I care to remember. I don't understand why people have to act without honesty and integrity! I'm just as mad as you are, Sweety!! Don't know that hubby has any recourse, but it might be worth a call to your Labor Board. Really don't know.

Geesh ! I am so sorry that happened to him !! I hope he finds another job soon, and agree with above - get stuff in writing ! Things like that happen so often, figuring after you are there and like it, you will stay. Glad your hubby stood up for himself.

I hope he finds a new job soon also. He should feel good about standing up for himself even at the cost of a job. Not everyone could do that.

Thanks guys. It even says on his hiring papers that he was hired for AM shift. When he interviewed hubby said this guy was excited because he was short staffed for the AM shift.

Hubby also said that 3 people are leaving on 11/16/05 for three months (extended leave) and he thinks that the boss was preparing for that, making hubby work nights. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Hubby will work out the remainder of his schedule because he doesnt want to leave them hanging. If it were me....I would.

yep but remember, it's to his benefit to work out the time right now...it's easier to find a job while still working, plus it shows his loyalty (to a healthy point!?)

Yes, all lies. This is a familiar scenario to most people, innit? Anyway he sounds like he can find some other job, and congratulate him for not letting himself get taken advantage of.
