(Although, sometimes I have problems with the statement...) Have NO Expectations.

Make NO Demands.

ACCEPT the good, the caring, the love and affection, the attention that other people WANT to give because, chances are, it's sincere. It's not worth having if you have to extract it, demand it or manipulate it out of them. It won't be REAL if you do.

It's good to ASK for what you need, but don't expect to always get it. Be ready to be ENOUGH for yourself.

I guess what I would add to this is 'have reasonable expectations, and be ready to change those expectations'

LMo, if we don't try to pull something positive out of every rough spot in the road, why travel it?? It's the difficult times that teach us about ourselves and what we need to change so that Life works for us.

It's so true that it's not about the Destination, but how you maneuver the Road you are on. Imagine not learning from your mistakes! It would be like the movie Ground Hog Day! You stay stuck in the same time frame, the same dysfunction and the same pain and misery! It may hurt to move forward, too, but eventually the pain of the past dissipates and you've gained a new perspective, you're a better person and certainly wiser. It's taking the positive from the rough bumps in the road that gives you wisdom.
