Once, many years ago, I housesat for a weekend for my brother and his then-gf (now wife). They had a dog and a cat.

The cat wanted out one night, which was fine, so I let him out. He hadn't come back by the time I wanted to go to bed, so I figured that was his problem, and went to bed.

The next morning I woke up, and opened the door to get the paper. Spread-eagled on the screen door, all 4 paws' worth of claws dug in, was the cat, and boy, was he PISSED. I've lost my cat!!

Sometimes you have to remind them who's higher on the food chain!

I'm sorry to hear that Sept. But don't let yourself get overwhelmed with worry, he may come home, give it a little time. Cats are very smart when finding their ways home. Don't give up, keep an ear out for him. I hope all goes well.

Rainbowzz, maybe Milo is part Manx? They only have a nub of a tail, ya know. I've lost my cat!!

Cats are cagey for sure! I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall at your neighbor's house! LOL The sadistic site of me finds someone getting startled like that really funny! It's even funny when it happens to me... after I get over it, that is. I've lost my cat!!

Yeah! Don't think I didn't think of that myself! He probably did decide to teach me a lesson the way he *****ed me out when I opened the door! LOL

I'm stubborn myself, but when he runs a risk of getting hurt, I'm not gonna butt heads with him... too much! LOL

AWW, Sleeps?? He really doesn't eat all that much. He just "SLEEPS" (hehe) all the time! He never plays or does much of anything, well, except when he gets out and then I have a strong suspicion he spends it sleeping in the sun. LOL

Really, I give him a cup of Science Diet in the morning and it usually lasts him till evening when I give him another cup. He flat refuses to eat table food unless it's tuna and we hardly ever have it. He gets no treats or snacks of any kind. Maybe I should change his food to Light?

He is a cutie and I would think from all you said about his diet and behavior that he MAY have a slow thyroid...has he had blood work lately? Yes you may wanna move him slllllowly to lite food....but he is very big...I would think blood work would keep him with you for a long long time just to catch something now while he can take meds to fix it

LOL He was angry at me, remember? Of course! It was ALL my fault because I didn't let him in two nights before. LOL

In fact, he's still giving me attitude! When I woke up this morning, I started playing with him. I have to REALLY annoy him for quite a while before I get any kind of rise out of him. It didn't take long at all this morning. He bit me at first, (never hurts or breaks the skin) and when I kept up, he slapped my arm with both front paws. This happened twice. After that he flipped his tail at me, gave me a dirty look, ignored me for a second and jumped off the bed. LOL Maybe he'd been dreaming about being brave! I've lost my cat!!

Oh Tomi,

I am sorry I missed your first post about Caesar being MIA. I know how upset I get when any of my eskies get out & go for a "walk about". Bad boy Caesar, but you can't punish them when they come back because that would be negative reinforcement.....& you & I know that there is no way we could even really do anything but love our babies.

I am so glad he that nothing happened while he was on his outing....he just needs to learn to call home & tell you he is ok.....lol.....of course I guess the first night he did call home......lol.

There is nothing more upsetting than when our 4 legged children decide to take a trip. I remember that last year when I was in the hospital, it was raining & I found out from my husband that my 2 oldest had gotten out. My husband knew I couldn't take anymore bad news so didn't tell me until he had found them.......about 1/2 mile from home around the McDonalds (out of our housing track & across a very busy big street). He found Excell the first night but couldn't find Destiny Dreamer. He went back the next day & found her under the schrubs in an apartment complex. When I found that out, I totally fell apart even more......just thinking what could have happened just scares me. Then there was good old Leo (the bigger one that is my protector). He jumped out of the car one time at the feed & hay store. It was on a very busy street & he turned off all hearing & thinking & just wanted to run. I was running across the street around all the cars zooming past. Several cars just missed him by about an inch. It was imazing that I was running in the middle of this street after him & none of the cars slowed down for me or him.......I finally got his attention but have to say that was the most upsetting experience I have had with my babies.

I am glad Caesar just came home a bit dirty......had to show that he was tough in that way...leaving you wondering what he got into, but I am so happy that he is safe & warm & pushing you off your bed again......he is a very special boy & was very smart to stay safe from Leo when he was there.......Leo is a cat chaser, but I bet he would have had second thoughts at a kitty that weighs more than he does.......Leo has also been known to run away from a mouse (saw him do it)...so I can really pitcute Caesar runing away from a mouse too.

Hurray for Caesar & a Big Welcome Home......I did miss the earthquake though.....but I do remember them mentioning that there was one around Catalina....was that yours?

Glad it all turned out all well....& sorry I missed your post before this.....I would have been on the stressed out list with you,
Debbie

PS.....I looked at little Tiny Tim who is now 6 months old....I made a big boo boo that a breeder shouldn't make.......how do I change Tiny Tim into Tiny Timmiana or some other female name.........boy do I feel stupid. I bought a Macho Dog shirt & now need to change it to Macha dog. How embarassing for a breeder to make that kind of boo boo. I must say though that Leo had definitely trained HER well to take care of herself.....a very tiny toughy. Leo puts up with her pulling his legs & ears & just lays there turning his head to watch her with the look of come on....enough but never disaplines her at all....guess he was smart & knew that she was a she........he should have told me....now that was the biggest DUH I have made in a long time.

Welcome home Caesar...& I know of many kitties that weigh that much....it is huge, but they are just built that way no matter how much they eat.

Take care of you all & give Caesar big hugs from me if he will let you,
Hugz,
Debbie

{{{{{{{Tomi & Caesar}}}}}} I'm glad I read the rest of this thread before freaking with you!! Anyone who has read my post in the thread asking if anyone has been pushed through grief by a therapist over pets KNOWS how I feel about my babies. SOOOOOOOOOO glad he's back safely!

I may be stating the obvious, so please forgive me if I am...do you have Caesar (or any pet) tagged and chipped? I just heard about the micro chip thing recently but it is apparently VERY popular now and painless for the pet.

With the chip in, the very first thing a vet, shelter, etc. will do is try to reach the owner who is in a registry data bank. Regardless if they reach someone or not, a chipped animal cannot be put up for adoption (unless there is some mitigating circumstance - my Kali II is chipped but she is a Hurricane Katrina rescue for example), euthanized or sold to a research center.

As I said, Kali II has already been chipped (I need to get the registration put in my name). Now I need to find a collar that "Houdini Kali" won't get out of, and believe me I've tried most of the ones recommended on www.CatSite.com.

As for chickens...I owned a Doberman who was TERRIFIED of cats. Go figure!

I'm so glad everything worked out. My dog has disappeared from the yard for a couple of hours at a time twice before. I was frantic! It's a horrible horrible feeling.

Yeah... kinda snapps you back to reality or something when they disappear. I've found that if he's not at the crook of my knees, hogging me out of bed, I miss him and call him to come get in bed. LOL

I'll pass your hug along to him. I've lost my cat!!
