You can try icing it. Heat is always correct, if you can handle it. feel better soon!

If you like STEAK..... eat it raw, no no place it over the eye - good luck.... they say a spoon rubbed on the area will help.... give it a try.

I opt for the truth too. something as simple as an allergy or a misquito bite will cause bruising. When I am anemic I get bruises just by washing my face or sitting in one position too long. When Im anemic I can rest my chin on my hand for maybe a couple minutes and my chin has a bruise print of the palm of my hand complete with finger imprint on my cheek. not every briuse in life has an explaination. its when people try to explain the unexplainable that they tend to look guilty because they go above and beyond trying to construct a lie. therapy professionals are treained to see through lies of all sorts for example did you know the brain has an automatic lie detector of the eyes look to one side if the person is lying and the other if they are honestly searching their memory to tell about something. I found that out when I my past lawyer was telling me about lie detector machine testing.

Just go with the truth that way your body language doesn't ring the ok Im lying through my teeth here because I can't explain this. By being yourself and being honest too later on you won't get caught in some elaborate lie about this.

((((((((((( Rainbowzz )))))))))))

Sometimes a small vein can "pop" in the eye area and you end up with a black eye. The skin around the eyes is very, very thin, so the bleed shows up quite dramatically. The itching might have been a very small vein giving way. Do ice it down and it will probably be gone tomorrow.

This happens to me on a regular basis. I'm so glad it didn't give you a migrain as mine does to me.

Some makeup will hide it pretty well, and I use my sunglasses, too.

Hugs,

Jan

I suspect its most likely that I hit my head off a cupboard or a table or something doing something and Just wasnt paying attention. Its right over the ultra-thin part right on the outside of the eye.

my son woke up once and it looked like he had been in a boxing match with his eye. we took him to the doctor and it turned out to be a reaction to something. the doctor put him on an antihistamine and it went away after a bit. the picture kind of also looks like a sty, but it's hard to tell in that picture. i wouldn't worry too much about it. might make for a good "football injury" type story though. So this is weird.

What the hell?

I wonder what happened....if it itches it may be so me sort of reaction or something. I've been socked before which resulted with a black eye and I don't recall it itching.

Please tell your doc, that looks concerning. Makes my eyes itch just looking!

You know, Jan, your idea is the best one so far. I remember when I was a beautician, veins would pop in my fingers when I had a bottle to open that was really hard. It would itch like crazy when the vein popped and then I'd get a bruise. HURT!!! Ouchies! That would happen, too, when I'd smack one of my boys in the butt and hit the brads on their jeans. Itch, hurt, bruise! Talk about your "This hurts me more than it does you"!! So this is weird.

so doctor says that its most likely a vein burst right beside my eye. Says its likely nothing and could have just been me straining to do something or coughing or something of that nature.

They are sending me for bloodwork Just in case to make sure im clotting right.

Is anyone med savy?

The bloodwork form has the following checked:

RT is checked at the start of each line then
Profile
Profile, Auto Diff
INR(PT)
PTT

Whats that mean?

I don't recognize the other abbreviations, but in relation to blood/clotting there are these two:

PT
prothrombin time (time it takes to clot)

PTT
A test used to evaluate the blood clotting. If there is a deficiency in a particular blood clotting factor, the time required for clotting will be lengthened.
