It's essential in life to have a sense of humor, but just because one person may find it funny does not mean that another person will feel the same way. If it's done among friends, cool. It's just a matter of respect to not use it with those that may not take it as lightly, that's all. It's really quite simple. I'm with stupid smilie?

I understand your point pat.... about that particular smilie. Maybe if you or __zh had started the thread and described the matter in that way, all the off topic stuff (and "disagreements" ???) would not have occured...... Just my completely out of the loop feeling having read the whole thread several times I'm with stupid smilie?

having pounded these keys recently pointing out that we all come from such different life experiences.......i admit to being surprised when i saw the smilie. i wouldn't use it. heck, it doesn't even take a smilie for someone to feel that something is directed towards them............and, i've never held back from saying that the reason we're all here is that we're crazy..........

i see the potential for it being used in a less than joking manner. but, then that's me, i'm concerned for the quiet, the shy, the ones who don't get hugged and those who feel as if they don't matter here...............love, pat p.s. and just because i have a big mouth doesn't mean that i couldn't be hurt by that one...........xoxoxo

all it takes is ONE pissy moment and someone posts "i'm not...smilie.........and 3/4 of the members here will think it is about them.........

</div></font></blockquote><font class="post">

this was my first post about it........i did not see the thread when it first went up........

i am not denigrating anyone's sense of humour here nor am i even "hinting" that a sense of humour is not good for PC. read what you will into my posts. it's known, far and wide, that i have a sense of humour and i use it when i see fit. if turning this into whether or not some people don't get other poster's humour seems appropriate, go ahead on......as Leon Russell would say.

i can see by going back and reading the thread all the way through that numerous people understand why the thread was started and that's a-ok with me.

angie, i was called many hurtful words while a child. i'm with you, woman.......love ya, pat

Sorry Pat, I didn't realize it could be so upsetting to members on PC. The last thing I want to do is joke about something that is painful to you or anyone else on here. Much respect.

I do not have an issue with the smiley. I have had a lot of abuse SA in my life and PTSD also bad anxiety issues. I find the anger and off topic icons as triggering. I tend to think or maybe hope most people use them wisely and that Dr John thought this out. I do want to say I respect all the opinons but some just do not agree that doesnt mean they have invalidated anyone they just do not agree. Thats all. All have good points. I like the smile ....thats my opinion.

I'm with stupid smilie? Perhaps if we all are more intune to the thread topic, we wouldn't go off topic, and need to be nudged back??? Yes, you do have a sense of humor...so do I... but even with those who banter back and forth, imo, as I said.. I think the stupid smiley is just that: stupid and unneeded. TC all!

For me personally? I also suffered a LOT of abuse and invalidation in my childhood.

Anger and side sniping are much more triggering for me than any smilie on here......

You know there are a lot of things in this life that offends me... some of the trivial things such as "a smiley" doesn't get me in a huff nor do i need to complain and cry about it... things that are trivial i just ignore... no need to make such a fuss over small things.... i doubt very much the i am stupid icon will be misused.... besides those who are using the icon are saying they are in agreement with what someone says but in a silly way..... maybe those who use the i I'm with stupid smilie? I'm with stupid smilie? I'm with stupid smilie? icon could post a trigger in the subject line... geesh
