I thought I would create a thread where teachers could hang out. All our welcome, b/c I believe we all have wisdom to share.

Based on the fact Seeker fell off her stool, and I stepped in a hole in my pasture and fell, it sounds like the teachers getting ready to go back to school are stressed.

I used to teach lots at uni - a little bit of lecturing, heaps of tutoring.

I like making people understand things!

Hi Sky and fellow friends and teachers,

My online class starts on Monday, and my "live" class starts next Thursday. I've got 25 students in my online Ethics class, and 24 right now in my Macroeconomics class. After everyone does their introductions, there will only be an hour left. I think I'll show the Introductory economics video, and give out some assignments and that will be it for week one.

Hi All,

I'm excited b/c I found out today, my class will be in the main building -- closer to bathrooms, and everything that counts.

My online class is already open, and I'm still working on my first "live" Macro class scheduled for Thursday!!

Hope everyone had a good Monday!

Hugs,

EJ

I had no idea we had so many teachers here! This is great!
I have to go work in my room tomorrow and then continuing ed classes for all teachers on Wed. and Thurs. and not sure if I will get students until next week.
I'm looking forward to it, but like EJ said, I guess I'm also stressed!
Teaching art to middle schoolers is fun, but can be trying at that age!
About substitute teaching....try to stay calm and firm. Students will test a substitute teacher to the max so please remember it's not like having your own classroom. I also subbed before getting my full time job and found it very stressful. Now, having worked in the system for 17 years, I realizing I was too nervous as a sub and wanted to do everything perfectly.

Hi All,

I feel like I'm working my fingers to the bones, copying and printing handouts. Twenty-five (25) students instead of 10 sure makes a big difference in this regard.

Tomorrow morning is show time!!!

Hugs,

You will do fine, EJ!
I attended teacher training today in "Life Skills" for middle schoolers. Although it was designed for that age group, I found myself benefitting from the input.
I get students Monday.
Love and happy teaching,
Patty

Hi All,

All 25 students came to class. So far I have received homework via e-mail from two of my students, which is satisfying.

Tommorrow I must start developing my lecture on the first two chapters. Then there are the quizzes and activities.

Good thing I like this work.

Hugs,

EJ

EJ...I saw that the program was on, but did not watch it, but will do so when it comes on again, which it surely will.
I get students for the first time tomorrow, and am looking forward to getting in the swing of things, doing creative projects, etc. I also plan to frame and decorate my walls in my new little house with student art which I've saved over the years. Funny how they don't even want their work much of the time!
We have a new female principal who is shaking things up (a lot of people have left!). She is lecturing us on our attire and dressing professionally, so I went online shopping last night for more teacherly looking clothes and shoes.
