Like when I was in the shower I closed my eyes then opened them and it was like the tiles were breathing and they were doing a Mexican wave like it was a water mattress or something and it was making me feel really dizzy. And now it is happening again with the computer screen it keeps going all wavy like it is made of water or something and it is really hard to focus. I have had problems a few weeks ago with seeing objects in my room moving in my peripheral vision. It was like my fan was moving all over the room and then the vase on the table was moving it was really disturbing.

Just please can someone help me, if I go to the doctors I wouldn't even know where to begin or what to say...

Tell the docs what you told us...they will ask questions to figure it out...

Hello there Berrylotus. Hunny, could you please please please consider going to see your GP or any health care professional because this is not really a common problem and it sounds as though this is fairly new to you. Have you recently commenced treatment by medication? I mean any medication, not just Psych meds. Have you recently stopped taking any kind of meds? Sorry to ask but do you drink alcohol whilst taking meds? Even if none of those things apply to you, I'd still make an appointment with your Dr. Depending on your age it could be blood pressure, but I'm NOT and Dr or health professional, PLEASE visit your Dr just so they can do a process of elimination. Do come back and let us know how you got alone. HUGS. XXXXXXXXX

I agree vision is nothing to fool around with. It could be a side effect, it could be you are overwhelmed by emotions, or it could be something else physical, start with your GP and go from there.

Hi Berrylotus. Tell your doctor you are seeing things that nobody else is seeing. These are not common. Just a guess, I would say schizophrenia but I'm not a professional. Are you hearing voices? It can be very scary, I know, but it will go away. If the doc gives you some anti-psychotic meds, it should make a big difference.

Sincerely,

Piraeus

Berrylotus, visual hallucinations are common in certain neurological problems. As other posters have said, please tell your primary doctor about your symptoms. It would probably be wise to ask for a referral to a neurologist before a psychiatrist. Hallucinations related to mental illness are more often auditory than visual, although visual can occur. Visual is quite common with some neurological disorders. What you're describing can be something quite simple or something complex. Only a doctor can tell you.

If a neurological exam and testing turn out normal, then ask your primary doctor for a referral to a psychiatrist. The symptoms you are describing seem to be getting worse, so this is becoming an urgent problem. None of us here can diagnose it for you. Please call your primary tomorrow (Monday) morning. If you're not signed up with a medical practice, do it as soon as possible. I'm not sure how the system in the U.K. works, you should be able to get expert help with this.

Take care.

Hi Berrylotus,

I have to agree with the advice given to you by SnakeCharmer. A neurological workup would most likely detect if something were wrong neurologically. That's where I'd start before thinking I was losing my mind.

Are you taking any medications? I ask that because for quite a long time I was experiencing severe dizzy spells. I was taking Zoloft at the time and quit some time ago. I noticed that after going off the Zoloft the dizzy spells ceased. They were awful to experience. It was very risky as well because on several occasions I had them while going up and down the stairs in our house. I'm just glad they've stopped because they were causing me a lot of serious concern.

Hope you get in contact with a good neurologist and explain to him/her exactly what you're seeing and how it makes you feel physically. Please try not to worry too much about what they may think about it all. Just state your case and ask for whatever testing is available that may help to rule certain things out. Best of luck to you with this.

Not that I'm accusing you of being on drugs, but have you recently taken any kind of psychoactive within the last few days or so because that could do it. Sometimes, a little bit of whatever you took might stick with you for a while causing lingering visuals. If not, then I still don't necessarily think your schizophrenic or anything like that. You could be just psyching yourself up too.
