High-ranking losses deal blow to U.S. troops
By Associated Press
Friday, January 26, 2007 - Updated: 01:32 AM EST

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Two colonels, one lieutenant colonel and two command sergeants major were among the 12 soldiers killed last weekend in a Black Hawk helicopter crash northeast of Baghdad, the Pentagon said.

It appeared to be the largest number of key officers and command sergeants killed in a single incident since the Iraq war started nearly four years ago.

The U.S. command has not said why so many key officers were aboard a single helicopter, which went down Saturday in Diyala province, one of the flashpoints of the Iraq conflict.

It was also unclear why they were traveling in the volatile region. The loss of such pivotal figures is likely to be a severe blow to their units.

This was in the Boston Herald. With his picture. The bold is my doing.....

my oldest just called me and she spoke at a 12 step program tonight and she spoke on gratitude. she used the example of her cousin being in Iraq and how grateful she is that he was able to be there saving lives. i was so struck by that. because until she told me that, i was still so angry. i now am looking at it differently and feel a bit calmer and settled.......

PC support has helped my family so much. i've talked to several about the loving posts and i thank you from the bottom of my heart. xoxoxo pat

Oh Pat,

I'm so sorry for your loss. With the mess over there, more and more families have been touched by the loss of a brave and beloved relative. A doctor and a soldier -- what a fine young man.

((((((((((((((((((Pat)))))))))))))))))))))

Hugs,

EJ

Pat, I will hold them close in my heart. I will wish them comfort and peace. I will wish for them closure. For us all let there be closure. For you and for everyone affected by this bleak time in our history. Hang in there Pat.

That's so true...

Pat, my friend wanted me to let you know he's praying for you and your family (I told him what happened). He's a very decent guy and I'm sure his prayers won't go unnoticed. You are in my thoughts as well.
