i am ashamed to be a british national today, today it as been shown on the world news that a british prince ( harry) will not be fighting in iraq because the danger is detremental to his health, wtf!!! i know this sounds empirical, but i dont care, we the brits, did not get to where we are now by holding back, the shame, well i will leave that to you, the shame that men are dieing daily fighting for a cause, good or not, you decide, the fact that we has a nation will send men with families to fight this political war yet not justify it by sending in our own royal family who like to play the game called war, consult history, i am ashamed,

anyone offended by this, i really dont care, grow up

i really have to stop ranting now

Please don't be ashamed. From what I heard, before, he was going inspite of the danger to himself. Now, it appears that they have realized that his whole.. unit... would be targeted also, and they didn't want to endanger the whole unit for that. They aren't there to fight the enemy coming after a royal... though I'm sure the Brit's would do a bang up job of demolishing the enemy anyway.

to all of you that have responded, thanks, i know the allegded threats that have been reported against harry, and his team, yet we are still sending in the team with a new commander, so that means his team are still going in, i have to try and keep this non political, yeah right, it sucks, its akin to the veitnam buyout clause that was invocked in america for the select few via regards to the few that were related to the administration, "the war is justified if it dont involve members of my immediate family" kind of thing, damn, so what they are saying is is it ok for a working man to go out there and be shot and killed but not a member of the royal family who wants to play war

still want to play?

Wasn't it Tony Blair that stood side by side with Bush on the war? Does the Queen have any say in any of this? SHE'S the direct relation, not Tony Blair. Just wondering because I really don't know what the Queen's involvment is on any of it.

Sorry to say but you are very naive to ever have thought Harry would have really fought in that war

i hear what you are saying here. i'm not british, but if i was i'd feel the same way as you.

it is funny how drafts go, eh (not that there is a draft on this).

start with the people who are unemployed...
moving to the unskilled workers...
and so on and so forth.

i think it sucks. i don't think that people should be exempted because of how much money they have and / or their place (or their parents place) in society.

it is kind of putting a different worth on the value of different lives.

i bet the other guys in the unit don't get to say 'i don't wanna do this anymore 'cause it could be dangerous to my health'.

but then i'm a pacifist.

back in the 'good old days' leaders used to lead by example. thinking here of alexander the great and leaders that led people into combat. now leaders seem to fly around in their luxury jet while the people they are meant to be serving are sent to the slaughter.

sucks.

sigh.

Mellors,

Ive only recently left the teritorrial army. Lots of people from my regiment are currently in Iraq. I can t tell you if i was posted I would be very angry if I had Harry with me. Afetr all, its hard enough to stay alive over there, it would be a lot worse if Harry was there are your whole team would become a target. Im glad he didnt go.

I really dont think the issue is his danger, the issue is the safety of other having to live and work with him.
