Should i continue to pursue and adjust my medication with my doc or lose hope and keep trying to search for a remedy on my own. I have severe symptoms so ill probably be on form medication for majority of my life. I think some people against med got it in my head that i should try "natural" ways instead but that prolly wont work for me.. im confused. What makes it even Harder is even if i wanted to try natural herbs like Sam-E or L Tryptophan i cant really because it may interact with med. So i feel like im at mercy of my doctor as far as severe symptoms go. And i dont see my doc that often. I just want to get better than i am instead of accepting mediocrity.

Okay, first off, no amount of medication or herbal remedies will make you all better WITHOUT you putting in some sort of effort yourself. Okay, so I don't know your story, or what exactly your DX is, but I do know that I found using this one tool called SNAP CLUB worked for me when I wanted out of the throws of clinical depression. Vital wrote all about SNAP CLUB in his thread in the Depression Success Stories subforum. Go have a look!
Anyways, it's not all about finding some magical combination of meds that will instantly cure all that ails you. You have to put some effort into it too via coping mechanisms and tools you've learned to use, and find what works for you.

Yes I feel like you should keep hope. (:
And believe in the beauty of your dreams and make them reality. (: Do you trust your doc? Do you think they are intelligent? Can you ask to see him more? Do you have a good therapist? I go to therapy once a week and that, I believe, is VITAL to feeling better.

Pretty much this. Nothing you take out of small bottle and swallow will work alone. Drugs and supplements are only small part of it. There is no "magic" combos. Magic don't come in pill bottles, it comes from within. Don't throw yourself, looking for good omens and being resourceful away, while hoping for holy grail of "magic combo". You are not at mercy of your doctors. There is lot of things you can do for yourself.

But some people need med or extra help indefinitely. Thats my personal opinion. Also from experience.

I think it's always good to explore options for treatment. Read up on types of treatments that are offered for your diagnosis and what people who have had that treatment say about it. You can also look around for the types of experimental trials researchers are doing for your diagnosis as well. You'll have to gauge the level of participation you're willing to put in because there isn't going to be a cure or intervention that won't require some level of effort.

It still does not mean that a combo of meds on it's own is ALL it takes. Hence no "magic" combos. Looking for such is a waste of time if you are not doing oher things to help yourself in the mean time.
