I am not sure if I am posting in the right area. If I'm not please let me know and I will post in the right place. Thanks I have been seeing a PDR for about 6 months now. He has not said anything about being obsessed. I have been reading about this on line and I really think this is a big issue for me. He has said I have been depressed for a long time and wanted me to come to him once a week. He also said I was ADD. Which I agree with everything he has says. But it doesn't matter if it is work, family matters, relationships, or a goal. I can't get if off my mind until I am at a point with the issue I want to be at. This just seems to wear me out at times. Please give advice with this if this is something you have dealt with or dealing with. Thanks in advance!

I deal with obsessive thoughts, but it sounds different to what you are experiencing. Sometimes I get obsessed with people or thoughts. Thinking about the people or thoughts causes me emotional pain, but I can't stop until I resolve the questions I have in my mind. Psychotherapy helps with this.

I guess I didn't explain it right. The thoughts are wearing me out. But most of the time the thoughts are about people at work, people in the family, ect... And yes then it causes me emotional pain. And yes I can't quit unless it is reolved in my mind. What is some self help I can do for it. What has helped you?

It's funny you posted about this because I've been searching for answers myself regarding this matter. I always worry about things I cannot do or how that may affect others around me and I obsess over it to the point were, no matter what I do, the thoughts seem to be the ones in charge at times. I am currently seeing a therapist who suggested exposure therapy and to "not think about these things unless they are concrete plans" Easier said than done. Good luck with your search! |

There are different subtypes of OCD, such as pure obsessive (the intrusive thoughts), pure compulsive(the behaviors) and there are also mental rituals, which are repetetive mental compulsions. The latter is very hard to identify and treat, and can be mistaken for other disorders. Check out the ocfoundation website if you're curious.

I ask my TDR last Monday about this and he just shook his head no. But I'm know he is not seeing how my mind thinks about things and what all I do to get a answer to my thoughts. I will say this, maybe it is a gut feeling. Because when I get a gut feeling about something I want answers. Either I research it my self or if it is about someone I do what I have to do to get the answer to see if I'm right. And I think out of everything I have done this way I was wrong twice. Maybe this is why he is saying it is not obsessed. Either way it is driving me crazy. I don't know what to do about it. Please give me some advice.
