It's been awhile since we've done a fund drive for a specific member, but we think we found one in great need.

Many of you recognize the name inkblot, as she was once a more prolific poster here than of late. And that's for a reason as her situation has gone from "pretty bad, but making the best of it," to as worse as you can imagine. She doesn't like labels, so I won't apply one to her, but she has basically managed her life from her car for the past I don't know how long... 2 years? at least...

Unfortunately, time has caught up with her in terms of past bills due and now all of her belongings are going to be up for sale at the storage place she rents. She's recently applied for SSDI and I hope that comes through, but in the meantime, one of her only ways of connecting with the rest of the world, an economical cell phone, has also been cut off.

I know inkblot from her many years here, and know she is a good, kind person who ordinarily would *never* ask for help like this. But sometimes, you just have no where else to turn.

In that vein, and in the giving spirit of this holiday season (if you celebrate Easter), I'd please ask you to consider donating to the Inkblot Community Fund which is open from now until Wed., April 18. Donations can be accepted by one of two ways:

Via Paypal to: john@grohol.com

(donations email address is temporarily down...)

or by check or money order to:

John Grohol
PO Box 5464
Bradford, MA 01835

Make checks out to me and I'll pass along the same amount to Inkblot.

We'll kick it off with a donation of $200.

Thank you for your support!! Community Fund Drive for Inkblot
John

I dont know Inkblot, but I wish her well and sent a donation via pay pal. Perhaps you could pass on to her that SSDI can be expedited for financial hardship reasons. She needs to apply for that along with any receipts she has about phone being cut off,,,,,etc. Getting a congressman/woman involved would also be a good idea under these circumstances......Joe

Thank you, DocJohn, and everyone! This is the first I've had even any hope for a long time! I rarely smile these days and everyone around me seems to have noticed. They think it best to stay away. I pretty much keep to myself with my moods and PTSD. It just keeps getting worse while I get more disconnected. The nighttime shelter sites will be closing, at which point I will be totally on me own for food, laundry, showers, almost whatever I need.

So true. I hate to ask for help. But sometimes, there is no alternative. I am so glad I found PsychCentral so many years ago. PC is one place in my life where I am glad to be. If only the rest of my life could be just as good. Trying to make it that.

It's easy! Go to PayPal and register. You can use credit cards, debit cards, or checking out to electronically transfer. Very simple!

I am not in a position to help right now - and that hurts me - but I wanted you to know that I think this is utterly derserved as I have followed your posts for a while.

My heart and thoughts are with you, Inky!!

Thank you all for your kind and generous thoughts and donations for inky. I'm sure she'll appreciate the outpouring of support.

Keep in mind that you shouldn't feel bad or anything if you can't help out with this request. Posting kind words of support are just as appreciated as money, too! And even $5 or $10 can be of help when we do something like this.

We're up to over $400.

Thanks again,
John

awareness of the passage of time is elusive for many of us....

that a community fund drive even exists helps remind us to not be so curmudgeonly about life experiences.

thank you for providing a way to put forth a little faith....

might be a spacey gal but did get to postal counter today to make sure envelope had enough postage. one coast to the other and then back to the middle. that's a nice way of thinking of how connected a bunch of "strangers" can be...at least to our addled brain Community Fund Drive for Inkblot

inky, we hope the energy many are directing your way helps you find a path through this seemingly darkest of times. we've believed in you for long time. you've managed what would have crumbled most. hopefully whatever is raised will help you keep connected and going so the pieces can fall into place w/ SSDI and such. our bestest wishes.
