also watch for messages about your e.bay and paypal accounts. unless my message starts with MY user name, i delete them or i fwd them to the department at e.bay who deals with the frauds.
be very careful any time it involves our personal info. delete is better than reading or responding. if it's important, you'll get an e.mail that you will know is "legal"......pat |

I have never trusted emails asking me to verify details such as passwords or card numbers ..... I don't know, but for me it is just common sense not to divulge this sort of info on email.

This is called phishing, and it has been going on for a while. Reputable institutions do not ask you to do this. I even get such requests made to email accounts that are not on file with the organization that is supposedly contacting me; or requests to verify accounts with banks and credit cards I do not use.

To help prevent phishing - you probably are starting to notice that banks are having challenge questions and mine even has a picture of your choice. This helps you realize you've gotten to the right place. If you don't see the challenge question or the picture you chose then you know you are not at the correct site.

Thanks d\for the reminder. I knew about this before but it never hurts to be reminded. I never do on line banking, on line bill paying and buying because of this reason.

There isn't a week that goes by that I don't receive some warning about an email circulating or a type of scam going on. They all seem to come down to one thing: THINK first! I have my blockers on my emails, so I don't even read the average scam subject line. Then, when it is from someone I don't know... it's just deleted. If it uses poor English in the subject line ALSO from someone I don't know.. it's tagged as spam and the address is blocked and it's deleted automatically. I don't open but what I asked for, or allow from ppl I know. That's simple. IF my ISP or bank wants to contact me with information, they have my contact information. I might open an email from a business I use, but I will NEVER click on any link provided within that email. I will go to their home site from my list of favorites etc. I make sure the bank I use has secure protocols, and if something on my computer blocks it, I call them (yes, pick up the telephone and call.) Actually with my email, I have it categorized so I rarely read any in the Main listing
