ok....I want so much to "allow" myself to be angry, but I can't.

When Steve was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer in September he was 179 lbs. After several surgeries and the standard regimen of chemo, he is down to 149 lbs. Yes, he definitely looks skinnier than he did. I checked his BMI, and he is at the 21.9 range which is still considered average weight. He's even scheduled for colon resection surgery July 24th. I am sure the surgeon wouldn't schedule the surgery if his weight loss was too serious an issue.

WIthin the past week, his sister and his best friend (2 separate occasions) told Steve he needed to go home with them so they could fatten him up. I was standing alongside him both times. Am I a good cook? nah....I can do the basics like chicken, pork chops, pasta, etc... I don't "withold" food from him. He didn't even take up for me like "No thanks, Dee is trying hard enough".

I don't want to be angry because that would be selfish...right???????

((((hugs)))) I'm sorry you took offense to their teasing him. I hope you can dispel this as an attack against you, and let the anger subside. Maybe they were just feeling awkward and didn't know what else to say? Obviously they noticed his weight loss!

Much good wishes for you and Steve ((((DEE))))

hon sometimes people speak before they think. pull them aside away from him and let them know it hurt your feelings. I am assuming they know he has cancer right? like sky said maybe they just didn't know what else to say.

I agree with _Sky, I think maybe they were trying to show they noticed his weight loss and were concerned. I wouldn't have taken it as a slam against me. They must certainly recognize that when battling cancer and being on chemo, a person is bound to loose a bit of weight. I mean, they didn't say anything like "gee, isn't she feeding you???" Selfish for being a little angry?? I'm sure his appetite has waxed and waned these months....I remember my mom's was like that too going through radiation treatments and all.

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((mybestkids2)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) I hope you feel better about it soon!

Hey, frazzled is ok! We all get that way now and again. I hope you weren't feeling guilty at all and taking it to heart in that way!
