Well folks, since coming off my meds since I am pregnant, things were ok at first but the last couple of days my anxiety is just through the roof. Coupled with the nausea. its making for one tough situation.

For those of you who don't know, I am suffering with severe nausea (morning sickness only its more like all day sickness) and I even had to leave my job last week because I was missing too much time.

Well, the pressure is on to get another job and I got an offer on wednesday. I told the guy I needed a day to think about it or so, and said I would call him back today to let him know.

Well, as of this moment, I don't feel like I would do any better working here than at the old place I was working. I don't know what to do, because If i dont work then everyone is going to be jumping down my throat and mad. If i do work im going to be absolutely miserable and probably missing alot of time and getting fired again.

This on top of the fact that im not doing well without my meds, and there really is not much I can do about it.

So I dont know whether to take this job, and hope for the best, or make a decision to not go back to work yet and take a while to sort things out.

I need advice, not doing well. I need advice, not doing well. I need advice, not doing well.

I know what you mean, being off meds. I'm off them for a different reason--side effects, potential dangers later on in life, etc.--but my anxiety is terrible, too. My panic disorder and OCD are so much worse. I'm going to post about this in the anxiety section in more detail.

I'm sorry you're feeling nauseous. I guess that goes along with pregnancy. Have you looked into things that can relieve it?

As for a job, do you have any writing skills? Maybe a local publication will let you do a column, if you have the skills to do so. But you have to create some sample columns, or articles, etc. to submit to them.

Thanks Maven for the ideas and reply.

Yes, I am currently on medication for the nausea but it only helps a little bit and I still feel sick almost all the time. I know that the end justifies the means in this case but holy cow I could use a break from it I need advice, not doing well.

That's a good idea about writing a column. Something I have always thought about doing but wouldn't have the first idea about how to apporach it. I intend to look into it.

Did you say you do websites for people? That is something you could do at home too. Hope you feel better soon.

Well, if the meds aren't working well enough, that's really tough... have you added saltines to see if that helps too? I need advice, not doing well. You really need to make yourself a pest with the OB, imo. If it's any consolation, the morning sickness usually goes away after the first trimester I need advice, not doing well.

Alternative therapies is all I can advise regarding the anxiety... and I think I posted them in that forum recently... there are herbs but you don't dare try them without the doctor's knowledge and approval, as so many will affect the pregnancy.

I hope you feel better soon! I need advice, not doing well.

fraid i dont have much useful advice for you rainbowzz though i agree with Sky about alternative therapies both for the anxiety and the nausea. thinking out of the box sort of stuff can sometimes help you find something that at least eases things a little.
the only other thing is that if you can manage it financially give yourself and break and dont try to work on top of all you already have going on. thats by far enough for one person to cope with already!
good luck and take care

You may be dead against taking any meds at all, but if not, I was in a program with someone who was pregnant and hugely anxious and they found a drug that was OK during pregnancy. (No idea what it was, sorry!)

Hi Rainbowzz,
I am sorry you're having such a terrible time of things! You need to talk to your OB about the med situation. I personally was on anti-anxiety meds throughout both of my pregnancies and both of my kids were just fine.

Medications aren't necessarily all harmful to the fetus (teratogenic.) I suggest strongly that you make an appt. with your OB doc ASAP to discuss your alternatives.
Take good care,
Okie

I know meds are discouraged when pregnant, but some people do have to have them. They weigh the risks and take the least risky med that will help. There's a balance there somewhere. Can you let your doctor know how you're feeling and doing and see if the two of you can come up with a plan?

I'm glad you have something for the nausea and I hope that it goes away quickly for you as it does for many.

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Rainbowzz))))))))))))))))))))))) Can you talk to your OB as some others have suggested? He can help you look for alternative meds or t to help you. Hopefully the nausea will go away soon; many times it does. I don't know what you decided about the job but I am sure it was the right decision for you. Can you find one that you can do some at home when you are feeling poorly? Or one that has flex time? I hope you find something or agree on something that fits both your situation and their needs. Take care.

Thank you everyone for the words of hope!

I decided to take the job and at least try it for a week and see how it goes. I have decided that if I truly am feeling like I cannot handle it I will do the right thing and let them know and leave.

Financially It makes more sense if I am working but I need to take all things into consideration.

And thank you all for the words of hope in regards to meds for pregnancy, I had automatically assumed that nothing was safe and it appears that may not hold so true.

I am coping right now, doing everything I can to stay on top, and managing. I surely dont feel as good as I probably could but I at least feel a little better knowing Im not necessarily stuck like this for the next six months.

((((((everyone)))))

Thanks for responding when times are tuff. You help me tuff it out!
