Hello peeps!

Just wanted you to know that I'll be unavailable over the next 3-4 days. Youngest daughter is scheduled for back surgery tomorrow, so I will be with her until she is released from hospital. The hospital is one and a half hours from our home, so I will be staying up there for the most part.

She's going in to have L4L5 fused as she has degenerative disk disease. I hear it's a 3-4 hour surgery.....and I know I'll be a nervous wreck waiting. But I'll bring things to keep me occupied like some crossword puzzles and maybe my special pillow to take a nap on Unavailable most of the next 3-4 days.......

Hope everyone is well......and remember.....take good care of YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All my love and respect -
sabby

Take care of yourself, sabby. I've had four back surgeries, from S1-L4 is fused, so I can understand what your daughter is going thru. My prayers will be with you both.

((((sabby and daughter))))

My thoughts and prayers are with you both as you go through this. Know you are missed here and are uplifted daily for strength and support. I am sitting quietly next to you as you wait for her to get through the surgery. If you need me, reach out and I will be right there. Know you are not alone, for there are many that hold you up when things seem so hard you cannot see. I love you and send you all the strength I have--to you both.

My prayers are with your daughter & you. It is stressful to go through major surgeries like that. I had neck fusion about 8 years ago. It went well, & haven't had a bit of problems from it....until I got into the humidity in Kentucky....very stiff neck that I couldn't blame on anthing else.....but I'm an old lady now (54).

Hope all went well,
Debbie

Thank you all very much for your friendship and support. It means the world to my daughter and I!

Yesterday was a horribly long day and night. Erin did well in surgery. It took 5 1/2 hours (bout drove me over the edge for how long it took). She didn't get to her room unitl about 10pm. I saw her briefly in post op recovery, they told me she was heading for xray and then up to her room, that was at 6:15pm......boy was I angry how long it took them to do that!!! I felt lied to in order to get me out of the postop room.

Erin had a very difficult night. Very uncomfortable and the nursing staff was distant and not very compassionate. They wouldn't listen to her or me and it really irritated us. This morning's nursing staff is much better and today she's up and walking and feeling better. The surgery went well according to her surgeon (I have no doubts, he's the top dog at the hospital!). Hopefully she will be home on Saturday or the latest on Sunday.

Again, thanks everyone for your support. It warms my heart and makes it sing!

Love to you all!

Erin came home from hospital today. She's in mega pain and mega messed on the pain meds. I think being home will do her a world of good so she can begin to relax and not have to deal with the uncaring and unkind staff at the hospital.

I'm completely appalled at their lack of compassion. Even though we had complete trust in the doctor, and he was wonderful.....there was only one other nurse on the floor that was worth her weight in gold, the rest of them were either incompetent or just plain didn't give a damn....Unavailable most of the next 3-4 days.......
Why do folks get into healthcare when they can't seem to show the compassion that is so needed and deserved???

Ok, I'm off my soap box now...LOL. She's home and let the healing begin!!

Sabby,

I'm glad your daughter is at home with you now.

I agree that people shouldn't go into careers that require caring like nurses or social workers if they don't know how to be compassionate. They should go into banking instead. Unavailable most of the next 3-4 days.......

Hugs,

EJ

sheesh, sabby, that was my complaint a year ago, when i had to go to the e.r. for a migraine, which messed me up good. the docs and nurses were absolutely lacking in compassion, as i was feeling so vulnerable to the bone. it was a horrible experience that messed me up so bad, which my pdoc had to put me on a medication to settle down the freaky-ness of that experience. usually, i'm not afraid, but i can't imagine putting myself in that situation again. but, we don't have a choice when we have a medical emergency..... i'm sorry that you and your daughter had to go through that. i totally understand what that was like. i pray for you both.

Unavailable most of the next 3-4 days....... to all of you! Thank you so much!

Visiting nurse will be here this afternoon at 2pm. I'm surprised they will be here on a Sunday as they had up to 48 hours before showing up (according to the hospital paperwork). So I'm kind of impressed about all that!

Erin is having a really difficult time with the pain management. Originally she was given a script for oxycontin timed release twice a day, but her Medicaid would not pay for it. The docs put her on another script that is morphine based but does not carry her the way it should for the pain. She also has percocets every 4 hours along with the timed release ones. Poor baby, I so wish I could take that pain away from her for a little while to let her get some sleep.

Hopefully, soon, this will all be just a bad memory and she'll be up dancing before we know it! Unavailable most of the next 3-4 days.......

Love to you all!
