Eeeek! - it happened...... Found Baby Squirrel(s) Found Baby Squirrel(s)

Life with a Pet Squirrel is NOT all Sugar & Spice.

Max was being a Squirrel instead of a loving Family Pet when he jumped on my son (for no known reason to us) and placed a few hard bites on my son's hand that drew blood in four different places - Found Baby Squirrel(s)

Max was reprimanded and grounded......... he was sent to his room for the night. (see PIC below).

Mom - when can I come out?

Max had his 1st Outside Adventure today with the Family........ Found Baby Squirrel(s)

He was scared as could be at first (held on tight to any one that had him) - after 30 minutes of being outside with us and some enticing with a few fresh acorn Max came down off my sons shoulder and enjoyed the ground.

Max stayed with in 2 feet of us - never going to far from his safety zone - I totally loved this experience.

Many little babies do not make it without the real mommy (or in this case I should say original mommy) Your babies are so healthy and cute. What a good feeling that must give you. Makes me feel good too!!

awwwwww i just seen the story!!! so cute!!! i did that with opossums until i got them into a sanctuary where they wouldnt be euthinized. hourly feedings, belly rubbings and all that. it is so worth it to try n save them. i have had so many 'orphans' find me...our dog skip is a rescue..he came to me beaten, dehydrated, underfed, malnourished, fleas, worms...and the kitchen sink!!! lol, i guess i could have started with what he didnt have, lol. Now he is moggles little baby...in other words, a spoiled little PITA!!!

It is great you get to keep him!! good luck!! ~ Mel

> we cracked a bucket of Black Walnuts for Max to eat

Did you get the nut meats out for him or did you let him finish the nut-opening?

We just crack them open for Max - then he has to dig or chew them the rest of the way out of the shell..... the blue bucket in the picture is full of all the nuts we craked today for Max to eat over the next month or two.

Max can crack open a regular English Walnut by him self..... the shell is tough, but not as tough as a Black Walnut shell.

Yeah, I think that's why the black walnut near my old house grew so tall, so when the walnuts had to fall so far onto people's hard heads they'd crack open for the squirrels. We always moved our RV out of that driveway during August :-)

Adorable pictures, Rhapsody.

That's a hoot, being proud of a squirrel for burying his first acorn. You need to be making a small cap and gown set. Dr. Max Rhap, SE (Squirrel Extraordinaire).
