Ok, I am at my wits end here. I am terrible at organizational skills. Seems like my mental and physical problems get me in quite a predicament sometimes. Do any of you have suggestions on any sites that you frequent or tips you use yourselves ? I need to keep it as simple as possible and something that works for me rather me for it lol.Otherwise I do tend to avoid it. I am ashamed of this but I think it happens because it all becomes so overwhelming to me. Being bipolar I do tend to get some grandiose ideas in my head and I think I've got alot of tools here to use.. just need to take the initiative to use them. I got this sorta paranoid feeling that you all will think I am a terrible person , because I cant keep up on things. Or that I am a dirty person . And I'm not, I just cant keep up. I have a rather large farm house, that takes alot of work to keep it up. We cant move right now, but hope to in the future to a smaller house. I just want to be able to manage this house as well as possible and still have time to enjoy my hobbies and life. I would appreciate your suggestions. Thanks ahead of time!!

She teaches you how to get organized, in baby steps, and she understands about mental illness. She has recovered from depression herself, and there have been success stories from all sorts of people, including one I remember who had DID.

1 thing hon. downsizing to a smaller house is not the answer! yikes! trust me lol Pat and I moved from a 5 bedroom house with little furnishings to a 3 bedroom mobile home. we do have plenty of room square foot wise but no storage space. We can't unpack so much of our stuff so the other 2 bedrooms are full of boxes still. my hubby is a packrat!

SweetsunShine -

I can really relate to what you are saying. I keep looking around this house and feel so overwhelmed too. I just don't know where to start, or how to start. Sorry I don't have any answers for you, just wanted you to know that you were not alone with this.

((((sweet)))) i totally understand how you feel. i'm a neat freak. my depression definitely gets in my way in the upkeep of my home and the mess drives me insane and makes me more depressed. my hubby is an unbelievable packrat. i can't even clean around the piles of "stuff" that my hubby has all over the house. i'm kicking him in the *** for that. lol. i love him, but yeah, his stuff makes it unbelievably hard for me to clean the house! my house is a nightmare, but at least, it's not a biohazard (for those who have the biohazard issue, no offense is intended, for i totally understand this issue). anyway, you're not a bad person. life sometimes get in the way. illness definitely will get in the way. other peeps, lol, can do the same - like my hubby. lol.

Beth,

here is what I suffer from ... We call it the" but first syndrome " this causes me to never get anything done ...

I want to go to the store but first

I want to clean the house but first

If i stay in the but first syndrome i'm doomed so i have to do one thing at a time and complete that task === otherwise slow myself down

I love all of Don Aslett's books:

He's funny, inspiring, and makes it look/seem easy.
