My heart is broken from losing a good friend, and it's every bit my fault. So my therapy is to post photos in our Photos Section.
Go up to the top where it says: Forums, Blogs, Chat, Photos, Ratings, My Profile. Click on Photos. Don't worry about the options. It will take you to a page where all the categories for photos are listed (humor, daily living, etc), plus shows you the most recent photos posted. When you click on a photo, it will enlarge and tell you all about it: title, caption, who posted it, comments, etc. If you want to see only the photos from a particular person, you can click on their name from one of their photos or you can go into the Members Galleries, click on their initial, and then find them. It will show all their pics, plus explain each one when you click on it. My name is SandyWeb. You may choose just to look in the humor forum, or you might want to look at all the photos. Up to you. When you are finished looking at the photos, go back up to the top of the page, click on Community, and it will bring you back to these forums. I'm doing this to distract myself, and to pick photos that are intriquing or funny or just something that interests me and I would like to share. If no one looks at them, then what's the point of even doing it? My point is to share and get involved in something that is healthy and helps me progress through my pain. Thanks. SandyWeb

Tks!
Don't forget to clear your cache after viewing photos in the gallery. Do this especially if you plan to go to chat! (Click on TOOLS or TOOLBOX on your browser INTERNET OPTIONS then CLEAR HISTORY or CLEAR CACHE.) Photos tend to take up a lot of our memory/space on the computer. ![]()

Thanks Butterfly,
I had you listed as a "Friend" when I used to come to Psych Central before. You probably don't remember me because I changed my icon. I was the worried mum whose 15-year old daughter was going into the hospital for 5 days to get both jaws broken in multiple places, titanium plates inserted, and then having her jaw wired shut for about 6 weeks. It was AWFUL!!!!! And I wasn't even the one experiencing it!! ![]() Thank you for your post. I used to post photos before (not on this site), but it was a while ago and I deleted them all. It's a shame because I had some really incredible shots that I found. I never claimed ownership of the photos unless they actually were mine (like the one on this site with my daughter in the hospital). We all need to take our minds off our problems for even half an hour per day, and what better way than to come to our favorite community and looking/commenting upon interesting photos. I think it is more fun for me to know that our members are enjoying them in some way rather than hunting them down and saying, "Ohhhh" and "Ahhhhh" or laughing. It keeps my mind focused on other people, and it's so much more fun to share in our little community than out in the big bad World Wide Web with all those photo-sharing sites. We have relationships on this board, and maybe two of you will find yourself talking about one of the pictures. Who knows? But yes......long way around the comment (lol).....this *is* helping me get through my situation. Thanks for replying. Have a wonderful day!!!! God bless, Sandy

Hi Sky,
Long time, no see. I hope you are doing well. I'm doing worse than before and then with this situation that I caused, I'm doing whatever I can to not allow myself to fall too heavily into a "funk". I don't want to just waste away in bed. So......computer time! Almost reminds you of "Hammer Time".....for all the oldies out there who remember that song! Let me add a bit more to what you wrote about clearing your cache. Most computers now will handle more "stuff" then we could ever stuff in there, but not everyone has a good system....and even good systems need to be cleared out. I have Internet Explorer 7, and this is what I do to keep disk space manageable. As you said, go to the Tools section at the top of the page (where it says file, edit, view, favorites, tools, help). Click on Tools, and a whole bunch of goodies will drop down. Click on the bottom one: Internet Options. You will land on the General tab, with other tabs named Privacy, Security, etc. etc. You want to stay on the General tab. Look down that page and below Home Page it should say Browsing History. That's the sucker you want. Lol. If you haven't done this before, I suggest you click the Settings link rather than the Delete link first. This takes you to the Temporary Internet Files and History Settings. For the Temporary Internet Files, I have chosen to check for a newer version of a stored page every time I visit that site. You know how fast even Psych Central changes. Disk Space to Use for Temporary: Recommended is 50-250. I leave mine at 51. Even if you have your History List cleared, IE continues to track your activity. The browser cache (Temporary Internet Files) saves the content of visited web pages on your hard drive so that when you revisit them, it can avoid downloading them again and load them, much quicker, from the hard drive instead. By default, IE sets aside many megabytes of disk space for this function (the actual amount depends on the size of your drive), but you can reduce or even eliminate the size of the cache. This is where you would look at the Disk Space to Use and the Recommended Amount. You can drop the amount of cache space to its lowest setting (mine is 50, but I just keep it at 51). You can even go to zero, but because the cache really does save time in downloading (even with high speed), you should give yourself 25 MB or so to work with. Before deleting anything, click on View Files and see how many are going to be shown. Your eyes will probably pop out, especially if you are on the computer a lot and haven't cleared your cache in awhile. I clear mine every day. At the bottom of that page is the History section. I only keep my pages in History for one day, but you might want to keep it longer. NOW....you have set up how you want your cache and history to operate. So it is time to do some deleting. I'm sure you have a lot. ![]() Click OK at the bottom of the page, and you will be returned to the General tab again. Under Browsing History (where you first went), click on Delete instead of Settings. A Delete Browsing History page will come up. You can click on Delete for every option there, but at the very least you need to Delete the Temporary Internet Files as well as History. Click on Close at the bottom. You're back at the General tab. Click on Apply if you made any changes or OK if you just did the deletions without changing any options. And that is how it is done. Sounds difficult, but it's extremely easy. You can even delete a few times per day if you really want to! Lol. Anyways, this will take care not only all the pictures you brought in, but all the other junk from pages you have visited. Every browser is different, but this is how IE7 works. You will find similar routes on other browsers. Good luck. God bless, Sandy

Hi BB,
Thanks for the response. You don't have to apologize for not being prompt. Lol. I can only take credit for a few of the photos, and the rest I found elsewhere. I really wish I hadn't thrown my file away from when I used to post before (on the big bad WWW), but there's no time like the present to start over again. Thanks for taking a look. I appreciate that. God bless, Sandy

Thank you, Jacq, for the nice words. Year two, huh? You must be excited!
Yeah, today wasn't the greatest so I didn't feel like being around here much. I just really did absolutely nothing all day long. Maybe I'll phone a friend tonight for a chat, but I miss my baby. He was nice about it, but we're over. The end. Anyways, it was great to hear from you again. It's so weird to come back to a site and you start seeing people that you used to talk with. Rather comforting. You take it easy too, hon. Be a good girl now. No pub crawls!!!! Lol. Sandy

((((Butterflylady))))
I'm sorry to hear about the baby. No wonder you wanted to find yourself in beautiful scenery and capture it on your camera. I hope it distracted you as you tried to line up just the right angle, and the beauty you found made you feel better for a little while, at least. I looked at the photos. Wow. You live in a great place. It must get so dark at night. And silent. It seems like a peaceful part of the world. And what's this nonsense about hijacking my thread? Yup, the lady's crazy. Lol. The Photo Section is certainly not my thread, and in fact, I'm REALLY excited that others are becoming aware of it. I think it's fun to share with you all, and I like seeing what everyone else has to post as well. Maybe I'll change categories each time. Tonight it's all stupid stuff to do with the police. Lol. I'm allowed, you know. ![]() I hope all goes well for the baby. Maybe I'll look for beauty in either people (eyes, hands, smiles...those types of beauty) or scenery next time. You take good care of yourself. Get lots of rest. (((Butterflylady)))) Sandy

I'm sorry, Butterflylady, about the sadness you are feeling now. But the cancer was caught in time. That is good news. And there is a cure for it. The baby is already used to being sightless in one eye, so it won't be a drastic change for him. And I've seen some amazing "fake" eyes these days....not like when we were growing up and the eye didn't move in tandem with the other eye. Eeks. Lol.
I can understand your concern, and illness and hospitals are not the place you want to spend time with a loved one. I am going to try and find some photos of "beauty" for you today. I'm sure others will do the same if they read this message. ((((Butterflylady)))) Sandy

Hey Jacq,
I meant to ask if you noticed the photo of my daughter when she was in the hospital with her broken jaws. Did you look anything like that? Looks like an old-fashioned remedy for a toothache! Lol. We didn't take any pictures on the first day because she was in such bad shape with all the tubes in her face and the breathing mask and the nastiness. Not exactly the time to say "Smile!". ![]() Hope you're still being a good girl! God bless, Sandy

Actually you know i did! And that bandage thing that was around her head ... been there! She actually looks really good for it being that close after her surgery! I remember my face/lips being swollen for a long time after. I also had an actual (but bigger) bandage like thing that ran from the outparts of my jaw on both sides over my lip. Did she have that at all?
I'm so glad thats behind me now! - As i'm sure you are for her as well!

Hi Jacq,
I'm sure YOU'RE happy that your own surgery is over! Who would have thought! I thought it was going to be bad, then I was reassured by everybody, and then it was actually a mother's nightmare!!!!!!!!! The Recovery Room and the first day in the hospital were just indescribable. I feel for your poor mother. No, they didn't have tape over my daughter's mouth because she wouldn't have been able to breathe. Lol. She had a tube down each nostril, plus the breathing mask for her mouth. Her lips dried out because she couldn't lick them, but she was given lotion for that. Actually, everyone was very surprised how good she looked after that first day. In fact, she hardly bruised at all. It was weird. When she began to bruise, it would be days later and they were the color of healing bruises....you could barely see them. She had a big bruise (later, of course, and yellow as it was disappearing. Lol) that ran right across her chest from shoulder to shoulder. I guess they have to hold you down somehow. She basically only had chipmunk cheeks that made her look sooooo cute. And she was talking on the first day once she got most of the blood out of her stomache (which took about 20 hours or so). I asked the surgeon if it was normal for a patient to look this well and to be talking so soon, and he just shook his head no. He said that his assistant told him that she didn't even look like she had been through that type of surgery. Ahhh....to be young and healthy!!! You know, she'd probably come out of a car accident without a single bruise or any soreness. LOL. That's my girl!!!! ![]() Talk later. God bless, Sandy
