I want to journal, but the idea of recording my feelings about my parents divorce has me apprehensive about doing it. I know in my heart it's really happening and there's nothing I can do about it, but to write it down makes it feel all the more devastating.
I know it's silly, but I just don't know if I can journal anymore...

Could you put that in a separate journal so you can change your mind and throw it away or just not have it with your other stuff? Maybe even write in pencil.
It’s not silly at all. |

I agree that it is not silly at all. Could you limit yourself to just one sentence a day or even just one word describing your thoughts or emotions for the day? (Assuming you journal every day.) Possibly limiting your expectation could help you continue to journal. You’ve already made a start by posting here. It’s right there in your post for you to see in real life that your parents are getting a divorce. I hope that it can take away that initial sting that we avoid like that plague.

Not silly at all.
Commit yourself to writing but don't commit yourself to saving it. It is the act of writing which is therapeutic. Reading your words is the difficult part - it tends to land me in the land of rumination. I solve the problem by destroying each Journal upon its completion. |

I have found that journaling relieves my rumination as I write about what's bothering me. It gives me a place to get my thoughts out of my head and leave them somewhere. Then I put it away in a drawer til next time which could be the next day or whenever.

I'm not surprised. You have a tough thing to go through. It will take time. Have you been able to talk to either of your parents?

I forgot to add, is it possible to include other topics to journal about? Perhaps juggling the themes about may make it easier. There are some great applications out there that provide prompts.
