UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Well that's not exactly true.... guess anything is possible... UNEXCEPTABLE..... there that's better.... totally unexceptable. He's a multiple offender.

As an employee you are entitled to an explanation. To a formal response to your complaint. You have a right to know how his 'repremand' is reflected in the company's policy. What???.... is he on a '6 steps your are out policy' and he's only at step 5 or something!!! Does your company have a 'harassment policy' or are they just flying by the seat of their pants over there.

I'd follow this up. I'd want to know what if anything will happens if he pulls this again or if he gets another complaint from another employee. I'd be rounding up others to lodge complaints if they have cause. I'd image that might be tough given how the company seems to protect offenders... some may not be willing to take the risk in that situation.

Anyways.... I'm steamed and disappointed things aren't getting better in the work place. I work for myself now in part because of 'boy's club' mentalities that make working conditions unsafe and unhealthy for women. I'm a consultant and do a lot of policy development work with companies to promote ethnic and gender equity and fairness issues.

HOpe you are hanging in okay. Please let us know how you are feeling and doing and how we can help hold you up under such pressure and injustice. It's not right.

Be strong..... he will get what is coming to him eventually. We can pray he sees this as a wake up call but from what you've said to us it sounds as though he's been round this one before and gotten away with it.

Prayers are with you Okie.... take care...

Thanks Perna and Chocolate. I don't know what I'm gonna do now. Turned boss in today for sexual harrassment

However, one ray of hope is that someone told me that they may be giving him the week off so that I don't have to work with him while they get their ducks in a row.

Could that be true do you think?

How did you hear about his "punishment"? Did you hear it from a higher up or is it just "rumor"? If no one "official" has told you anything, I'd go and be a bit "nasty" with the, "there are all kinds of rumors flying around here and I'd like to hear it straight please. . ."

I am so sorry Okie..... all this crap... you do not need... grrrrrrrrrrrrrr... ((((hugs)))

and there was a manager at my old work... that also did that.... and over a period of 7 years... he was brought up on charges.. with HR... over and over... with different women.... they each had documentation... the very last one... who was my friend... had reams.. of documentaion..she quit her job.... and did the other women.. I am sorry to say..

Me... I refused to give in... and I refused to report him... I simply... made his life as miserable as I could... at every opportunity,, that I got....I also.. had powerful friends.. so with him and me.. it was a "draw"...

It was an "old boys club".... 90 percent men... and 10 percent women in the one department... he didn't even get slapped on the wrist...

In your case... HR.... has to deal with him.... as they gave him a week off... without pay.... that alone... says in BIG neon letters that he is in the "WRONG"... and they have acknowledged it..they have said... to him... you are on warning... just by making him take a week off....

So in my opinion that..... if he... does this anymore... he will be walking a "very thin line"... cause it is "out there"...

Hidden no more.......

His boss came to my office to speak to me directly and to apologize on behalf of the company.

This morning, this jerk called me up first thing and told me I was his "beck and call girl...." Yuk!

I hope you are still going to see a lawyer and pursue this situation. I can't believe that he is still harrassing you and that's all they've done to him. I would scream loud so everyone could hear what he is doing and definitely don't let him get away with it. I'm so angry as it reminds me of being harrassed at an old job years ago and I just didn't even know what to do then. It violates you as a person and makes the innocent think somehow that it is their fault, which of course it isn't. Just don't put up with it or ignore it.

Document that Okie... It may be as you say.... time for them to put the paper work together and organized the disciplinary process. I'd still want to know precisely what your company's policy is on the issue. As an employee you should have a copy of the policy manual and it should tell you what the process is for this kind of behaviour. It could be covered within a code of conduct, discipline and/or harassment policies. Either way you should know the policies impacted so that you get a sense of what you can expect your company to do.

I'm just shocked that given that your complaint isn't the first formal complaint that they have received on the guy that they did fire him on the spot. But they do need to gather the evidence and make sure they dot their 'i's and cross their t's'.

You need to know that your company has taken your complaint seriously and that they have a clear, defined process for handling the matter then all you can do is trust that they will follow their own policy and procedures and deal with this guy accordingly.

Do take heed to the reminder to get your information from the right sources. Your HR department has a responsibility to keep you informed. You should not be left in the dark to wonder. Knock on their door every day for an update if you have to and do read your company's policy manual.

Sounds like you are hanging in pretty good considering.

Take good care of you.....

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I know it hurts and that it's bewildering and also makes you angry, and rightfully so.

I don't know the law in your state, but in some states, you can legally record a conversation. Get one of the tiny miniature tape recorders and tape every conversation you have with him. You can place the mic so that he doesn't see it.

I have been sexually harassed lately. It looks like it's stopped for the time being, but if he starts again, I'm going to go to court and file sexual harrassment charges against him. He's nothing but scum. I mean it. So is the guy that did that to you. If he can't control himself, he does not need to be in your work place.

Hugs,

Jan

Okie,

Good for you!!!

If you don't report this kind of mistreatment, it will just eat away at your self-esteem.

I reported an incidence of sexual harassment by an older student this semester to the Dean, at the college where I teach. It really wore at me all semester.

Please feel free to PM me if you want.

I was also sexually harassed once at work, and reported it.

Hugs,

EJ

okie, I just read through this thread. I am sorry you are going through all this and I am sorry I was not here to support you. It sounds like you have been getting some wonderful support from other members.

I am glad you are taking a stand...I hope it all works out for the best.

Please remember to take care of yourself. You know, sleep, eat...all the basic things. Maybe take a long hot bath to relieve the stress.

My thoughts are with you.

Okie,

Just read this thread. I'm really sorry - nobody should have to put up with sexual harrassment at work. It's happened to me twice and both times i complained, in both cases the guy was eventually fired.

Hang in there.
