I read something earlier that made me furious and that I can't seem to let go of. So I wanted to point out a few things for those who don't think they have anything to be grateful for.
Thanks for the health insurance that allows you to be treated for your issues, instead of turned away because you can't pay. That puts you above 45 million people in the richest country on the planet. Thanks for the other people who pay taxes so you can have your state or federal health insurance if you don't pay through the nose for your own via a job. Thanks for the ability to read and write, and the ability to pay for an Internet connection with which to disseminate your thoughts, meaning you have an education, some sort of shelter, and disposable income. Thanks that when you had your morning cereal and milk, you could afford to eat today. That puts you above about 13 million people in America alone. Double thanks if you didn't have to use food stamps to buy it, because the average allotment allows you to spend a whole $1 per MEAL, NOT per item. Tell my friend from Senegal who had to beat somebody up for one piece of a bread a day, until somebody gave him a break and a chance at the things we take for granted, how bad life sucks. Thanks you aren't risking losing your life in a war today so that the rest of us can have freedom of speech and religion. It's all in how you look at it. Happy Thanksgiving, for real. Candy |

Happy Tg, Candy!
You are right. We need to be thankful for what we have. Even with all its ups and downs, life could be worse. bfG __________________ Enjoy life. You could have been a barnacle. bfG |

Amen to that, Candy! Thank you for sharing and shaking us out of our doldrums and self-pity.
Have a good one, even if you have to work. No doubt you're thankful for that, too... as I would be. __________________ Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. |

I'm grateful for having a roof over my head and food on the table because me and my partner were homeless for months when we first came to the NW (we're originally from MD) so I know what you mean.
And I'm grateful that our doggy is ok. She has been bitten by something probably a spider and panicky as we are, we rushed her to the emergency vet who said she was alright (a very healthy 5 year old) and gave her anti biotics. *sigh of relieve*. __________________ Debbie Sometimes you're frightened and you don't know why.... |

Hear! Hear! ((candy)) and add the thanks for the computer and internet service and DocJohn and his site that allows for the venting of unthankfulness.
I have so much I am thankful for...as I work to become content with whatever, gratitude is a high priority. Now, take that righteous anger and replace it with a smile. __________________ |

Great post. I also have to be thankful that I am able to pay my bills. I have health insurance (it is a high premium ) but
I can still afford it. I have so many things to be thankful for. Water, food, a roof over my head, a car. The list goes on and on. I have visited my country where I was born and it is so sad to see the people living in tents and sleep on the floor. Others with a house made of rocks and a tin roof. Children are dirty because they don't have not a lot of clothes. Women & children begging for food or money. Thank God, that I learned form an early age, material things are not important. I am very blessed and thankful, everyday. |

I am always thankful for what I have.
I have been homeless 3x in my life. Once in 1980 and then again in 86 and 90. Since then life has been good. I own 2 homes 2 cars, an RV (so, I'll never be without a home) and have 6 grandkids to look forward to and keep me young. I have enough $$$ and food to live for a while. As far as health care, well, I work for the federal government. Life is good. |
