Just a saying that my old boss used to say after we worked 12hr shifts and had to be back in 8;for another 12hr shift. I have been awake now for almost 36hrs. I did not sleep at all. Good thing I got some sleep the other night. My thoughts are racing so badly; feels like my mind is out of control. I am tired but yet I am awake; if that makes any sense at all. I think I might as well go in to see my doc as soon as they open today. I was planning to go later on but I am up anyway. I just need to give myself that kick in the butt; before I chicken out. Its odd, I want help but yet my mind tells me other wise. I have this issue of when things get intense; I shut down. Its like I have so much to say but yet I can't speak. It is one of the most frustrating things about myself. I like it when I am asked a question that triggers my emotions; then theres no stopping me. I will break down; but in a good way. My courage has been hiding so long, I am not sure where to find it. I know its in this body somewhere, just to track it down would be a useful tool right about now. I should get a pager. lol. Sorry, I am tired so I can be kind of silly. Anyway, have a good one and I will post later.

you said your courage has been hiding..............well, remember this, "giving yourself that kick in the butt" to go see your doctor for help is a courageous thing.

I think things will be OK because you are aware of it. My depression effects me in the same way... racing thoughts keep me awake (one time 4 days in a row with absolutely no sleep... not even catnaps... and couldn't eat anything for those 4 days either... on the fifth day I checked into the hospital).

And I sort of shut down. In some ways that is where I am now... unable to do some of the things I need to do to stay afloat. I've been doing what I can as each day passes, and by forcing myself I've been able to have some success.

Keep on truckin' No Sleep for the wicked (Did I just date myself? No Sleep for the wicked)

Elizabeth,
I have a similar experience as you and Dexter. After one of my hospital stays I almost stopped sleeping completely for almost three weeks. I think I averaged about an hour or two a night during that time. I have to admit that it was the worst time of my entire life. I literally thought that I was going crazy again and was going to have to be put away forever.
Please do not let it get that bad for you. Going to the doctor is wonderful first step. Sleep is so important whether we like to realize it or not.

Did your boss ever finish that saying? "No rest for the wicked... and us righteous don't need it." LOL

Can't you take some kind of a sleep aid? Lack of sleep will really mess with your head. Call your Dr! No Sleep for the wicked

He He; I think he got the saying wrong. He was a different guy but fun all the same. I wonder if my overreaction today was lack of sleep. Duh is all I can say. I got to laugh right now though, thinking of what happened. What a dork. Lol. I guess we need to laugh at these things sometimes and learn from it.
Thanks again.
itsjustme-being a sleepy head; with no sleep. lol

No Sleep for the wicked No, no, no, silly! It's "no rest for the Wicked!" If it was "weary," then "righteous" wouldn't work! No Sleep for the wicked tee hee
