hi...
I put this post here.... because I wanted to ask for responses from people that do not have eating disorders... And I wondered if you would help... by...just commenting.. on whether you enjoy eating.. and what it is that you enjoy about it.. Is it the texture... or the taste... or.. the fact that it makes your body healthy.. This is not a "research" question...for school or anything... I do have an eating disorder...... and my T was talking about how much he enjoyed eating... and that... is a new concept for me.... I know for people without eating disorder this may seem strange question... but I thought it would help me... to gain more of an understanding.... Thank you.. for your help.... ![]() |

Sometimes. I need to explain my answer. Since my surgery sometimes it is hard to eat so its not fun to eat. Other times when it is easy and the food is yummy then I enjoy it.

I guess I really do enjoy eating. I love the taste. I am a good cook so that makes it really difficult for me. I guess it depends on your definition of an eating disorder. I am a really severe overeater and to me that is a disorder also. although I don't know if it is really listed as one, I know myself and others that over eat like I do consider it one.

Not really - but then I don't enjoy much of anything right now. I've had real food issues, not an ed, just lack of appetite since I quit drinking. I have to force myself to eat and when I do it's not a particularly healthy diet.

I like the combination of smell, taste, texture, temperature and getting special cravings like salty or sweet met.
I like the creaminess of eggs, potatoes, and bananas; the chewiness of meat and bagels; I love apples and oranges and other fruits that are so juicy they explode and dribble down your chin when you bite into them (and that's saying a lot as I don't care for "messy" food). I like using my teeth; to pull the flesh off a artichoke that's been dipped in butter or mayonnaise, or my jaw's strength; crunching nuts or chewing some tougher meats. I like the softness of cheese and how it gets softer and softer the warmer it gets in your mouth. I like playing with food too, shaping bread into moist pellets, using my tongue to smash potato chips against the roof of my mouth, peeling or freezing seedless grapes before I eat them.

yes...I love eating....im overweight too....my diet is horrible.....too much junk.....too many sodas....too much fast food....eating has become a source of relaxation for me(unfortunately).....

I can enjoy eating.
I lost my sense of taste and smell with the injury, so I have to be creative in the ways of "enjoyment." Also, I have TMD so it isn't like I can just chow down on anything. But I can plan a time, a place, take a book and go read and eat a meal in a good restaurant...and yeah, enjoy eating!

I have somehow managed to go all over the eating spectrum. I have been bulimic and now I am an addictive overeater. I guess food is a great source of pleasure and control for me right now.
When I didn't like eating, I got sick because the thought of food disgusted me, now I overeat. I have no logical explanation for it. I remember the tecture of the food disgusting me and the amount always seems to big. Now I can't get enough and the portions are to small!

I have suffered from severe depression most of my life. I have suffered though metal,physical, and sexual abuse. Only recently gaining control of my life. For the first time, I am living and happy! I also had to deal with panic attacks and anxiety issues, but I have made it through the worse, and am ready to move onto the better. If I can help anyone, I will be glad too. |

I enjoy eating out. I don't cook, but I love eating other people's cooking. A friend and I go out almost every Friday night to dinner. We try to go to different places and sample different cuisines. I look forward to the presentation of food as well as the taste. I find that I order the same things though, like salmon. I try to eat healthy throughout the day and not eat too much.
In the '80s, I was anorexic. I ate hardly anything. I can be obsessive at times, and I think I got good at not eating. Now, I can't imagine not eating well for my body's sake. |

I love to cook but I do need low fat or fat free items. I like ribs, but I can't eat them anymore. I like Stuffed chicken breast, salmon, and bean salad.

We don't enjoy eating, don't even understand how anyone could ![]() We don't recognize the cues for hunger, they just don't register with us as indicating hunger. We have been asking around for ppl to tell us how they know they're hungry too. They say we don't have an ED, but we do have a dx of anorexia, not anorexia nervosa though, they say there is a physical cause Our weight bounces between a low of 36kg & a high of 55kg regardless of food input (((((Splash))))) can you tell us how you achieved that ?

I love to Eat! I'm a vegetarian, once in awhile i have an egg but mostly enjoy lots of fruits and veggies and whole natural foods.
I feel better mentally and physically too. Nothing against the meat eaters, I'm so leary of our meat supply nowadays though I worry about that.......

I really enjoy eating as long as the food is varied and well prepared. Eating out in good restaurants is the best, but there are some foods I don't eat unless I've prepared them.
Food used to be my "drug of choise" but it's not anymore. I don't eat nearly as much as I used to. In fact I skip breakfast and lunch most days and only eat a snack in mid afternoon and sometimes dinner. If there is freshly baked bread or sweets in the house, I can over indulge, but again, not nearly like I used to. For me it's mostly taste and texture comes second. With tapioca, which I hardly ever eat, it's popping the little bumps with my tongue against the roof of my mouth. If I'm eating alone or no one is watching is sucking mashed potatoes through my teeth. Now that I've got a full set of teeth, I like grinding the whole grain in bread with my back teeth and crunching down on chips. ![]()

You know, it was so long ago, I can't even remember how I went from not eating to eating to live again. I remember comments made at the beach, about how thin I was, and I remember how it hurt just to sit, but I think I just resolved to think differently about myself and my life. I read a lot of self-help books in those days, and I'm a pretty firm believer in "you are what you think". I'm pretty content right now, so it's hard for me to imagine what it was like. I think I have some essays about that time of my life. I'll have to see if I can find them... |

Whole foods EJ are:
whole grains (no processed flour) fruits Veggies foods with little to no preservatives No processed foods i.e. soda, sugars, chips, snack cakes junk foods in essence... I still eat desserts but very little, ido cheat once in awhile, I like fish like scrod, salmon, when I can afford it!! I try to keep it as simple as possible, Do you have any whole food stores in your area i e (Bread & circus) or (Big Y they are expanding there health food selection) Stop & shop too? I snack on alot of nuts too like my favorite is cashews (there the best) Last year my cholesterol was 358 I almost fell over when I heard so my doc gave me a diet and my T helps me with additional eating suggestions. I did it slowly its hard to change any kind of eating habits.. You can get protein from powders, nuts, beans lentils legumes, just read the Labels if you don't recognize it then ask ?'s. Goveg.com has a lot of good healthy alternatives, if you would like to check that out...Kashi makes really good cereals and snack products too, you may have heard of them? Hope that helps... ![]()
