Do any of you do this? I woke myself up the other night doing this. I was reading out of a book in my dream and when I woke up I was talking out loud and Tyger was up by my face staring at me. It scared me. I don't normally do this and shouldn't be able to do this as I wear a CPAP mask and it blows air into my windpipe and I shouldn't be able to talk and I was. I am still freaking out. Do any of you talk in your sleep and if so what do you say?

Hi Jbug,
Yep. I talk in my sleep all the time. I say all kinds of weird stuff. Sometimes I'm responding to a question, teaching a class, having a debate with myself, laughing my head off....you name it.

I think there are a lot of us who talk in our sleep.

Others?

Okie

My dad says I've always talked in my sleep since I was young. I loved books and I read to my brothers before bed ever since I learnt to read. He says that he'd go upstairs to bed and look in on me and I'd be telling stories (what I've done in my day etc) Talking in their sleep Don't think I do it anymore, my boyfriend says I'll utter odd sentences, but I don't tell stories.
I used to sleep walk too... When I was about 8 I was at my grandparents and my grandmother woke in the night and I was trying to climb the curtains Talking in their sleep I think I got the sleep walking from my dad, he did it a lot too.
I wonder why we do it?

I talk on my sleep a lot. Not so much with meds I am on. Poor spouse, I screamed in his ear once cause I was dreaming and was very angry with someone. Well, you bet he wakes me up when he hears any talking now. I have also hit him. I cry in my sleep too and when he wakes me I am upset and still crying and upset that he woke me cause I want to see why I was crying and make it better. Yeah, dreams are crazy. I wouldn't worry too much, it's within normal.

I often have vivid dreams in which I curse and talk and shout and fight . I told my psychiatrist about them and she said that it's not dangerous and not to be upset about them...(easy thing to say...) It often wakes my husband up and I'm really sorry about that. The dreams are always about my mother...
I don't talk and dream as much since I'm less depressed.

I am always waking myself up by talking in my sleep. Sometimes it's a fun conversation...sometimes it's an argument...sometimes it's scary and sometimes I'm laughing or crying.

I think it's quite normal to talk in your sleep as the dreams we have are very real to our brains....it's natural we will be verbal.

I used to wear a cpap too and I was able to talk with it on.

My college roommate talked in her sleep. I was up studying all night once and she sat up and started talking about her "chain" and asking where it was and patting the bed anxiously, etc. I went over to look and I think even asked her a question or two and then she laid down and I figured out she had been asleep. Upset me :-) as it felt like I had been talking to a dead person or somehing.

Thanks guys it makes me feel less strange knowing I'm not the only one that does this. I can just imagine what was going through my cat's head though LOL.

I have always talked in my sleep and I too have sleep apnea (and wear a cpap). Some people talk in their sleep, some don't. I wouldn't worry about it.

I've woke myself up yelling! When I was working, I would be dreaming about what the people that worked for me did, or something my kids did that day and I'd get frustrated and start yelling, and I'd actually be yelling.

My husband talks in his sleep all the time, always has. He never remembers though. His is usually about work as well.
