Maybe it is just manic energy, but I decided to buy a bike. I get it today or tomarrow. I decided it will save on gas money since they are charging so much for gas. I will get some needed exercise as well. Probablity going to give me a pain in the bottom though. Hope I remember how to ride.

That could be fun! Why not wait for delivery til next week or so, to see if you still think it's the best idea? We can all rationalize what we want, but as you said, it might not be the best regarding that "pain." Buying a bike

why not invest in a gel; seat for him and or lycra cycling shorts with the padding in them he can wear them under normal shorts

Bicycling is really good exercise however remember to get all the safety equipment that goes with it. You'll need knee pads, elbow pads, and a helmet especially if you haven't rode in a long time. I also recommend a comfy seat if you are going to ride on longer trips.

Prior to becoming pregnant, anyway, I have been a passionate cyclist for about 10 years. The bottom soreness goes away when your legs get stronger. Personally, I don't like the gel or padded seats - they seem to provide more friction than actually help. The key is to make your legs as strong as possible so that you don't put as much pressure on the seat.

Go for it! Brava Twirls!

I am buying the bike next saturday or sunday. Instead of buying a new bike I am buying a used bike from a friend. I bought a helmet in the clearence isle at wally world today. Anyone know how to make the thing fit right? Even when its tight if I push up on it it comes off?

It might not be the right size helmet for you - they come in different sizes and shapes. You might be better off taking it back and buying one that fits after trying several in the store. An ill-fitting helmet is not a whole lot better than no helmet at all.

If too late for that, then they sell extra pads that you can use to bolster the loose areas, but that should be your last resort.

Just a caution - buy a helmet that is new and approved. In order for your helmet to fit well it should be snug enough that when it is on without your strap, and you bend over it should not fall off

enjoy your bike and a hint for bike shorts....get bodyglide
