Those are fun. Where I worked the vice president is Irish, not a citizen of the U.S. and we use to rib him about taking the test and becoming a citizen and we took a bunch of those sample tests to see how well we'd do; they're pretty difficult! I never had 9th grade Civics, it wasn't offered in the state I was in at the time.

I got all of these right, an informed citizenry is vital to the survival of any democratic society, in fact as we are thinking about the incredible sacrifices that have been made on our behalf how many of you can me tell the following without looking it up on the net or reference books?
What are the specific functions and purposes of our 3 branches of Government ( Executive, legislative, judicial) If a President wants to put forward a budget, what body must it be approved by first according to the constitution before it can be enacted into law. Each of the Bill of Rights (the first 10 amendments to the constitution) Who sits on the Supreme Court currently and who is the current chief justice. Who all of your state reps and state senators are. If the president is knocked out of commisson, what is the order of sucession. What is the reasoning behind the Electorial College . What our political system is actually considered. For example England would be considered a Parlimentary Government. Thats a few, people really need to know this stuff, otherwise we become easy picking for brainwashing demogogues of all partys. I will post the correct answers to those questions tomorow |

Dunno--do you mean Reps or Senate Each of the Bill of Rights (the first 10 amendments to the constitution) Freedom of Speech, Petition, Assembly Freedom of Religion, Press 2--Right to bear arms 5 self-incrimination (right to not) soldiers can not stay in your house right to a fair trial, speedy hearing innocent till guilty. # 10 is, if I recall, something along the lines of these are the laws unless something else replaces them. To screw up the 2008 election LOL Actually it has to do with representation by all the states--one huge State, for instance California, could vote me in, but a bunch of little states, like Rhode Island, MA, CT, etc. could vote another in, and those states have "in effect" the same say as California would. There are 26 amendments to the constitution Nowhere in the document itself is there lanquage stating "seperation of church and state" the establishment clause simply states the government cannot "establish" (sponsor or collect taxes on behalf of) a paticular religion. The church and state issue is among the most misunderstood aspects of our constitution The other 2 most important amendments, 9 and 10 are also misundertood, based on those amendments "The New Deal" and "The Great Society" and for that matter the greatest fraud ever perpetuated on society: Social Security ( FDR led us very well in our foreign issues, but his domestic policies were a disaster) should have never come to pass. Back in 1994 a law was proposed that required any member of congress proposing spending legislation to cite the specific article in the constitution that authorized the expense on the part of the federal government, it never passed. I commend you greatly for being an informed citizen! There need to be a whole hell of lot more out there paying attention to how our system works. I believe if that were the case we would elect far better leaders. |
