I rarely watch Nancy Grace because she is so abrasive, but I have been watching lately the story of the disappearance of the little girl, Caylee. Have any of you watched the news of this?
It is so bizarre, the attitude of this "mother," Casey who is in jail. It is said the little girl was missing for a month before the mother reported it! Patty |

Yes it is quite bizarre. She didn't report it actually, the grandmother did, saying that once she tracked her daughter down her car smelled of dead body. There are other news programs carrying the story, so you don't have to put up with Nancy's irritating style.
The mother (very young) will probably be dx'd with something imo, at least as a pathological liar. IDK why the court is allowing all the phone calls with her in jail to be made public. That's not illegal but highly unusual. While there's always a chance that someone in the underworld has her child, or has taken her child as payment or such and she's silenced for the child's safety, I sense that there is more to this than just a babysitter who absconded with the child. The dna from the car should have been back by now, as well as the psychological makeup report. The police might just be waiting til the limit on the current warrant and then will pop those up, keeping her in jail. They can't hold her much longer on the charges they have her in on with the absurdly high bail. It's a great case for those who are voyeurs and can handle the gruesome to be.

You are right, Sky, the mother has some kind of mental problems, and the psychological profile information is most interesting to me.
I don't think it's voyeuristic to be concerned for the little girl as well as being exasperated by the mother's lack of concern. Patty |

Wow. I just watched a video clip. A lot of people don't like her. I watched a clip of her best moments on you tube, scrolled down and the comments showed just how much people don't like her.

I try to keep track of any child missing in Florida. (Amber alerts to cell phone, highway warning alert signs..)
It's a carry over from my SAR days I guess. ![]() But others do feed on the drama from other people's lives, imo. Even the grandmother said in her call to 911 that her car smelled of dead body. Now, anyone who has smelled that knows the distinct odor, and even people who have never smelled a human decomposing but a large animal, would be able to guess accurately. The cadaver dogs also alerted. That she borrowed someone's shovel doesn't bode well. It's as if she was into her own shed to bury the child in the yard, then couldn't access it when she wanted to move the child and so she borrowed the neighbor's shovel and put the body in her mom's car, which she stole, btw. Then? It appears she may have gone out partying for the rest of the time. ![]() But I also wish it wasn't getting the exposure it is. Slow news months I guess. ![]()

I really hope the little girl is not dead. The lack of concern suggests something else to me, like she may have sold her for money, or that she knows little Caylee is with someone.
But there are parallel cases, and the Diane Downs case comes particularly to mind. Didn't you ALWAYS know where your two year old was!??? Patty |

Are you kidding me? My children were NEVER out of my sight when they were that small, unless asleep in their beds. If they were outside, so was I... even as elementary school children they had to come home after school and check in first before going anywhere. I think it's the society mores that have changed that doesn't impose such care upon parents these days? Plus, what schools teach home economics etc any more? What teenager babysits for money to spend anymore? Parents, hoping to make their children's lives better than theirs are just giving them everything and letting them go. Oh, I digressed didn't I? Sorry.
Why did the grandmother wait so long I wonder? She said something about trying to find where her daughter was, whom she spoke with on the phone often. But the grandmother was used to seeing her grandchild all the time... and she had to know the makeup of her own daughter (though imo a very imbalanced family there) so why did she wait a month, until SHE found her car and daughter, before calling the police?

Caylee's disapearance is very sad. I find the actions of the mother quite odd to say the least. My heart aches when I see those pictures of that beautiful little girl.
As a side note, wanted to mention the aggressive nature of Nancy Grace. I had a hard time watching her at first also. But after reading her biography I realized all the trauma she has dealt with in her own life; including the murder of her fiancee. I can't help but to feel that what we may perceive as "aggression" could be her passion for finding justice for the victims of crimes. |

I guess the bright side is knowing abusers of every sort are getting caught and jailed (for whatever reason, we have a high concentration of s. offenders living here ![]() |
