Ok heres what happened. I misplaced my bloodpressure med and my anti anxiety med. So i called today, to get them refilled. Then i started having chest pains and went up to see them. They made me wait two whole hours, then I was told the doctor wasn't willing to refill my anxiety med early, even if i had lost it, because it is considered addictive and they thought I was abusing it and drug seeking. Then, I was told the doctor couldn't see me after all, and sent on my way and told if i wanted to see a doctor I had to go to the hospital and wait until eight thirty.. which would have been about five more hours.

Thankfully my chest pains have lessened.. but i feel really unfairly treated right now. I didin't get to even speak with the doctor to explain, i was just left to figure it out on my own.

Sorry, had to vent

I understand your frustration, but also have to consider the dr.'s side -- they are under tremendous pressure to see as many people as possible in a day, and if you don't have an appointment and just show up, then you have to figure you're just going to have to take your chances. And I'm not at all surprised they wouldn't give a benzo refill less than a month after the first one -- that's undoubtedly imposed on them by insurance regulations as well as their fear of a malpractice suit.

the only places I know, here anyway, that you can just walk in and be seen are urgent-care clinics, which are open usually limited hours in the evenings and weekend mornings for things like stitches, sore throats, ankle sprains, etc.

yes (((Rainbowzzz))

it is a bad situation to be in. it hurts dangit!

so what i do so that I don't have to deal with the Dr. saying 'no' and the insurance messing it up anyway whenever it gets involved, is to cut back on easy days, a half pill here, a half pill there.

this way I have a few if ever something happens.

once, a half bottle of ativan disappeared from my home and the only person who had been here was a housecleaner!

did it help me get a refill, no.

I went to an urgent care place and they helped for a week.

so, I did half doses until the next refill.

I usually don't have issues either.

sorry, that's all I got at the moment.

Peace,
night

To but my two cents in .This is not yours or your doctors doing next to pain meds.~ meds. for mental heath are gone after by drug user or dealer and now they are saying there is a growing market to white collar works to give them a boost of energy or wipe away the blues on a bad day There way many more people on these meds. then the people who really need them its become a huge market! Just look at the T.v ads now days. Five years ago you wont see one now they are one of the main adds on tv .Everybody using mental hearth meds. for all the wrong reasons .

So one someone like you are me really needs them because we lost them or took to many because forgot we took them earlier we become a victim of this miss use of them .This miss use is every where most treatment center are over hemad with drug user or drinks now and wont have a bed for someone with a real mental heath issued .I know these people need help but its been at the cost of us .

From miss use of our doctors to flooding the treatment centers but its all about the money .There know money in mental heath .

Rainbowzz - I'm sorry how frustrating. I know what it's like with anti anxiety meds. One time I accidentally spilled half a bottle down the sink, and my pharmacy wouldn't refil the prescription until the month was up. But you should be able to at least get a script for the blood pressure medication - can you call to make an appointment to see your doc about that.

I think I would put pen to paper on this one, you are already stressed and have a young baby, he/she just added to it which I am sure he/she would not of wanted ! Perhaps if the Dr was made aware then in future would be more carefull about it happening to others.

You all make good points and I agree.

I think the next time I go in to see him, I will explain, try some "I feel" statements, and try and work it out because he IS a good doctor otherwise.

When i wrote this i was pretty anxious and cranky but I guess i can understand his side of things too if i think about it.

I just dont like being told to go up to see him and then not seeing him as if me and my problem were just swept away under a rug.. it doesnt have a good feeling to it you know?

I had to say I had something similar happen to me recently but with a doctor in the same clinic I go to. Luckily mine had a happy ending. My doctor had gone on vacation and I had a migrane. I had to call in for something for the pain of the migrane and the medicine I was requesting I guess was in the cocktail I used when I OD'd 6 years ago. So the doctor they asked refused to give it to me without me coming in. Of course by the time he got this relayed to the nurse they had closed the office and so I had to come in the next day. I still had a headache so I kept the appointment and he told me why he wouldn't just give it to me over the phone and I told him that was wayyyyyyyyy in my past and that I have been stable for over a year and that he didn't need to worry about it and he told me that he would never give me any pain meds over the phone. I would always have to come in to see him. I was very glad my doctor doesn't go on vacation very often. Luckily, after meeting with me and seeing I truly was in pain he gave me the meds and a refill til I was able to see my doc when he came back from vacation.

So I feel your pain.

(((((rain))))) this is why I love my doctor. He actually knows us and our family. If I called tomorrow and said the dog got my med bottle (happened) and the pills are spread far and wide, need a new Rx, he'd write it in a heart beat. Insurance on the other hand wouldn't pay for it. The last time something like that happened he gave me samples to fill in the blank until Insurance would pay for refill.
