well it makes sense that if this is the ONLY thing you have changed in your diet that the symptoms you are experiencing can be credited to the herb. after you take it for a while, these could taper off as your body adjusts. you just have to decide whether the side effects are worse that what you are taking it for......take care.

Its 450mg tablet and says equivalent to 1300-2000+ mg of Johns wort. Does it mean its at least 1300mg Johns wort? Coz I've been reading and people take 3 tabs of 300,mg each day. It says one a day tablet. I'm just confused. Thinking of taking 2x450mg (dry extract) equivalent to 1300+mg St John...? Is that too much? I don't want to go to my doctor about this herb. Doctor cost lots of money just to see them.thanks in advance

I don't know the answer either since I am not familiar with this brand but 300mg 3x a day sounds about right to me. Although, if I'm reading it right, the mayo clinic's website says for mild to moderate depression you could take up to 1800mg up to 3x a day.
I would recommend taking to a doctor though just to be sure. As far as the side effects, they may seem bad but in my experience chemical antidepressants are far worse with their side effects and the ones you do have on St Johns wort may go away with time. Sent using Tapatalk

Thanks ! It says one day on the box. Each tablet is 450mg dry extract. I took one a day for 2 days and 3rd day which is today I took 2 tablets (2x450mg) .I'm still having nasty headache tiredness, and yawning, less desire to enjoy cigarettes etc... Hope it will go away as my body adjust to St Johns wort.

On some drugs the doc will start at a low dose and gradually increase to optimum dose. You should probably take the low dose for 1-2 weeks then increase. You still might have side effects, but shouldn't be as bad. Also, it could take a month or more to notice favorable results.

Good point Iris, St Johns wort is known to take longer to have a positive affect.
I would always stick with what the label says unless a doctor recommends otherwise. Antidepressant side effects are supposed to dissipate after a few weeks, at least for most people. If you can get through them then I say stick with it and see what happens. I hope it gives you the relief you're looking for! Sent using Tapatalk

I take st johns wort occasionally when stressed.
I took one today ![]() The brand I use is not kira. I would not recommend taking any more than the recommended dose for any medication, herbal or otherwise. I personally like St Johns wort, it is a calming herbal treatment that gives me no side effects that I have noticed. |
