I have to put to sleep, Mufasa, my 3yr old Pit bull tonight. He's in the animal hospital ICU and he is in critical condition and septic. Drs now think he has Addison which is very treatable outpatient. This is his second night in the hospital and the bill is at $4000 already. I was hopping it was closer to $2000. I can't afford to fight for him medically. I'm so sad. I wish I had more money. I wish I had insurance. I wish Mufasa could live a long happy life. I wish...

Oh I am so very sorry about your situation(( What a horrible dilemma to be stuck in. Here's a suggestion but don't feel bad if you don't try for this, ($4,000 is mindboggling) but could the clinic set up some kind of payment plan? Here's a link that might also help--

My thoughts are with you Terry

Thanks for the link. Mufasa is now in a better place without pain and discomfort.

Welcome to the first day of your life

Just open up your eyes as I lay you down tonight
Safe on the other side
No more tears to cry

Crying isn't a sign of weakness. It's a sign of having tried too hard to be strong for too long.
Thanks for this!

Oh my, my heart is aching for you, (((((((HereIamBP))))))).

Addison's and its complications are very difficult to get under control on an outpatient basis, very expensive even on an outpatient basis, and there are no guarantees of the treatment working according to research and in life. It is a nasty thing that I am SO sorry to hear y'all have had to contend with but know that you have done what was needed to be done to help him. I applaud your courage to let him him go and know he is not suffering now. Know that you have truly taken wonderful care of him and I can only imagine how much he will be missed. So be kind to yourself right now and advocate with the clinic for a payment plan as mentioned above. Sending gentle thoughts and big hugs your way. I am so sorry for your loss.

While I've always said, and "known" that if it came to high medical bills (even with pet insurance) I could not continue that route and would have to do what you have. Pets go to heaven...there's evidence in the Good Book. Healthy, happy, and free. But the heartache here lasts "forever".

i am so sorry to hear about your loss...somehow losing a loved pet cuts deeper than a person...we seem to be able to grieve more freely & deeply..maybe because the bond is more open & honest.

be grateful you enjoyed the time you had with your dog...it sounds cliche but you had some great memories that you can keep close. i have lost many dogs (& a few cats) over the years & while the pain is still there so are the happy memories.

unfortunately vet care is & can be expensive. it scares me because i am in the same boat you were...if one of the herd becomes seriously ill or requires emergency care my options are very limited. my brain understands but sometimes the heart takes a bit longer to fall in line...

let the healing begin...go slowly, be gentle..don't doubt your decision...it was the best option there was & it is done. make peace with it.

stumpy
Thanks for this!
